Which bar is closest to VA? MA or NJ?

Hi - I am planning on taking the VA bar on July 30 and 31 and also wanted to take either MA or NJ on August 1st.

(1) Does anyone know which of MA and NJ has the most overlap with VA? I'd like to minimize the amount of distinction I'll have to learn. I hear NJ is easier, is that true? Also, does any other state offer their state portion on August 1st? Thank you.
