Once you practice law, how important is Bluebooking?

I mean, when I write a brief, if I can cite cases and the occasional law review correctly, I shouldn't have to worry about any other rule in the Bluebook, right?
I don't see why anyone would need to know all the nuances of the Bluebook unless he/she is aiming to become an academic.

You might need to cite legislative history now and then.

It's important, but you don't have to be perfect. But in practice, mostly cases are cited. So you should at least know how to Bluebook cases really well (it's not that hard).

This is what paralegals are for.
