I have heard the exact opposite.Tom Joad wrote:I don't think there is any way of knowing where the no offering comes from.shumpshump wrote:If we CSWS correctly, we can hopefully go to a firm that doesn't no-offer!Tom Joad wrote:lol no. Don't get no offered, bro.shumpshump wrote:Thanks guys! Need to CSWS for one more term and then we're done!
(I'm just jinxing myself at this point, right? Fuck!)
Anecdotally, I have heard firms have been more picky about 2L and 3L grades in the last few years.
I landed in the top 10% or so after this semester. Hoping to kill it one more semester and be done with all this! lol

Median is 2.7-3.0. I'm a 3.42 or so. Hopefully I can repeat that this semester (or do better!)AssumptionRequired wrote: Thats what matters.

Property grade is in. Not going to be specific because several people know who I am, but I'm pleasantly surprised. Whoever said it's better to get the grades all at once is absolutely right, though. Don't want to keep waiting!

(1) Kill 1L
(2) Choose a firm with a historical, verifiable 100% offer rate
(3) SPRING BREAK WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
(4) You still have to be a lawyer

I used to hate you, Thesealocust. Now that I've been in law school for a semester, I think you're awesome.thesealocust wrote:(1) Kill 1L

General question: Based on what you know, do you think 1L GPAs end up falling on a normal distribution curve, or something less regular?

Congrats Buckingham! I thought I'd want them back all at once, but I'm so relieved to have something. Glad it's property too, since I felt like I had no concept of how I did on that test. Happy over here as well.BuckinghamB wrote:Property grade is in. Not going to be specific because several people know who I am, but I'm pleasantly surprised. Not even law profs can escape the pull of the laws of statistics; huge quantities of data over the year supports the fact that 1L grade distributions are highly normal. Obviously not perfect, and less so the more standard deviations away from the mean you get.bowser wrote:General question: Based on what you know, do you think 1L GPAs end up falling on a normal distribution curve, or something less regular?

Got my last grade in, an A- in civ pro. 3.33 GPA, just barely above median. I'll take that at Penn though. Hopefully next semester I can push for top 1/3 (~3.5 GPA), but I'm not gonna be too concerned if I'm medianpwned at the end of 1L year.

Approximately what % would be a 3.61 GPA? My school doesn't seem to provide these kinds of info.
Very happy with first semester!

Re: PANIC!! 1L Fall Grade Waiting Thread - 2012
Just realized my grades improved on each final. I took contracts first, got a B. Torts second, got a B+, civ pro third, got an A-. Honestly wonder if there's anything in that... Definitely think my nerves on my first final could have dropped me a bit (maybe from a B+ to a B).

Would be impressive if anyone could answer you without providing even a median.grimfan wrote:Approximately what % would be a 3.61 GPA? My school doesn't seem to provide these kinds of info.

Barring his school changing medians, he could do it easily (and more accurately) with last year's cutoffs and a linear regression.ndirish2010 wrote:Would be impressive if anyone could answer you without providing even a median.grimfan wrote:Approximately what % would be a 3.61 GPA?
