When I was a 1L I took 4 breaks on Thanksgiving: 1) to whack, 2) to whack, 3) to whack, 4) to whack.
I tried to cut each break down to under 1 minute, although I may have gone slightly over my time constraints during one of the breaks. So overall I'd say I took a total of 4 minutes worth of break time on Thanksgiving my 1L year.

The family gathered around the table was still pretty weirded out though

I just whacked and studied at the same time. I had some sticky pages in my casebooks (because I ALWAYS read twice before I outline), but you don't need them after finals anyway. Top 10%.

ITT 1Ls and other friends grasp the idea that doods who sit in library 12 hrs a day are likely same doods who did not go home for Tgiving. Said doods spent Tgiving what they usually spend their 12 hr days in library doing: browsing internet, bitching on FB about studying so much, and making their studies consist of useless tasks such as re-rereading Pennoyer, M'Intosh, and Marbury in hopes of having that unique kernel of wisdom to drop in exam that will assuredly secure them top grades.

This. If you're a 1L, study the entire break. You can have dinner on Thursday with people in your city though.
