Is there an Atheism and the Law class at your school?

Postby abitaman6363 » Sat Nov 10, 2012 1:49 pm

I would like to start a reading group at school focusing on developments in legal scholarship and recent jurisprudence involving atheism.

Does anyone know of a similar course at their school? I would like to see how the class was structured and gain ideas for a syllabus.

Thanks!

?

How about pretty much everything not involving natural law?

ETA: Not trying to be a dick, but really have not come across anything discussing the role of a lack of a belief in God in legal theory, unless it's in the context of the establishment clause, or something like that. Basically the starting place in most legal theory does not involve God, thus it never becomes a conversation. The only places I know that start with God are natural law theory and some forms of retributivism. That said, maybe check out Brian Leiter--he's got some rants against religion that may have a legal hook somewhere in there.

Judging by some of the anti-AA posts here, there's plenty of Atheism on this site.

No--I'm on the buckle of the bible belt. I'd be ostracized if I even mentioned the word "atheist/ agnostic"

What is with all this atheist shit lately? As if secular humanism and the like are immune from the charges of moral dogma leveled at religion.

Amirite John Mill?
