Plus it, you know, requires the requisite social skills to get a girl to go with you in the first place.Nova wrote:Im seriously considering skipping too. It was actually directed to myself but we're in law school, so I'm sure it applies to others too lolPinkLotus wrote:BURN!Bronck wrote:Plus it, you know, requires the requisite social skills to get a girl to go with you in the first place.Nova wrote:Im seriously considering skipping too. Law prom is really an event invented by gunners to lure the socially hopeful toward the treacherous Sirens of booze, debauchery and taking shifts off.

Unfortunately, I'm not a natural pro at this law school thing and have to work my tail off for good grades on exams. Hope the nosedive in my social life over the next few months will be well worth it.

i love going out and drinking my fill but I mostly hide during the semester because it is the honesty and rectitude of the thing that is consideration enough.mephistopheles wrote:PinkLotus wrote:Hope the nosedive in my social life over the next few months will be well worth it.

I don't really go out during the semester. Maybe a bar review here or there. But it's one night, it's not going to make or break your grades.

+1, it's not like you have to go to the after-party. Just go, have fun, sleep at midnight and work the next day.Pleasye wrote:I don't really go out during the semester. Maybe a bar review here or there. But it's one night, it's not going to make or break your grades.

Unless you're getting shitfaced, you can go out for a few hours a couple nights a week and be totally fine to study the next day. Plus I find that I'm way more efficient working if I give myself a set time period for work by making plans to go out with friends than if I just plan to work all night. Ex: I'm supposed to be spending all night working on my brief, but instead I'm on TLS.

Haha, I s'pose ur right. I'm kinda acting like the girl who'll refuse to eat a slice of cake on her b-day for fear of getting fat.Nelson wrote:Unless you're getting shitfaced, you can go out for a few hours a couple nights a week and be totally fine to study the next day. Re: OFFICIAL 1L Exam Prep & Motivation Thread (CSWS)
It just seems like political dispositions very obviously color some people's opinions on things, which is fine until the arguments devolve into something that really isn't very law-related. I guess that would be what I consider a gunner (though not necessarily gunning for grades). It's really not that bad at all in my class, but people definitely seem to get more riled up/confrontational in conlaw more than any other class I've had. See, e.g. the ACA case.mephistopheles wrote:honest question, but can you please describe said gunners

3 days until I need to turn my brief in. it stands at 7 pages of dubious recitations of disconnected law, equally painful, cursory argument with the overall organization reminiscent of those ransom notes using clipped letters from several magazines.
overall, great endeavor so far.
