Re: OFFICIAL 1L Exam Prep & Motivation Thread (CSWS)
I think that is a line-item veto. See Clinton v. New York. Dudes like Scalia (dissent in Clinton) are okay with it bc he believes that its been within the traditional powers of the President to impound appropriations. Breyer (also in dissent) thinks its okay because the Congress and President are allowed to experiment with novel ways to conduct government and neither branch's power is being usurped nor is there an accumulation of power threatening individual liberties.brotherdarkness wrote:Con Law question.
Can the president refuse to spend money that Congress allocates for a specific purpose? I feel like he can, but I don't know the case(s) that support that view. On the other hand, it seems like an easy analogy to the line-item veto that was found unconstitutional...

1/4 done. It was a three hour exam with a 2500 word limit, so I had to be judicious about which topics to hit and which not to hit..... Hope I hit the ones he wanted. I'll say median owned for now since I have no idea

Severe word limits are such a double-edge sword.Bronck wrote:1/4 done. It was a three hour exam with a 2500 word limit, so I had to be judicious about which topics to hit and which not to hit..... Hope I hit the ones he wanted. I'll say median owned for now since I have no idea
Getting things done today bros. Should have my admin attack outline finished in an hour or so, then it's time to PT PT PT and then review and modify. First exam is next Monday and I'm not done until the following Tuesday. Pretty ready to be done and start my summer job.
ETA: I mention this because I have a 4hr <3000 limited admin exam. I feel like there is just a whole additional element of guesswork to be done but the time crush is eliminated.

Just finished with Contracts. I swear, I still do not understand how some of my classmates call themselves finished with an hour to spare. An hour? I'm cramming everything I can think of into that exam in the allotted time. I don't know how they managed to do so with an hour left to finish the exam. Oh well.

This is how the "wait, what word limit" story always starts.lakerinstl wrote:Just finished with Contracts. No word limits. There were plenty of people last semester who did the same thing. Only classes where we have word limits this semester are in Property and Crim Law. I just didn't think people would really not take all of their time to make sure everything is right considering our whole grade is riding on this one exam.thelong wrote:This is how the "wait, what word limit" story always starts.lakerinstl wrote:Just finished with Contracts. Re: OFFICIAL 1L Exam Prep & Motivation Thread (CSWS)
Had an all multiple choice exam this morning that consisted mostly of:
Fact and prompt followed by:
Reasoning A
Reasoning B
Reasoning C
Reasoning D
Reasoning E
Which of the above reasonings are correct:
(1) A & B
(2) D & E
(3) A & B & C
(4) C & D
(5) None of the above
Just shoot me now...

That chick just did some top-level gunning.TLS wrote:Had an exam today. Everything went alright, but I've got a story to share:
Time was almost up on the exam. I suddenly hear someone call "Time!" And everyone stopped writing.
I look around wondering what in the actual fuck is going on because the proctor hasn't even re-entered the room. I see that it was actually a student who called time! This woman's exam clock must have been different than mine because I still had a minute left. By the time I actually realized what was going on, and started to consider whether or not to tell this lady to fuck off until the proctor came in, that her time was off, and that she was not little Sally time-keeper, the proctor came in and stopped us.
Now, obviously, that's not a huge time-difference, but I'd say I could have had about and extra 1 and 1/2 minutes if this lady hadn't done that. I could definitely have gotten a few more things down.
MAF.
