Background info:
2L
I go to a school ranked between 40-60.
In top 10% (highest ranking given by school but am likely at least top 5%)
LR
Accepted a SA w/ big law firm

Issue:
not sure laws for me. i utterly dread reading caselaw and researching. can't motivate myself to write my Note. i really dislike the law school atmosphere and egos. i miss numbers, math, and formulas. been rather depressed since school started up again in august and it's been really effecting my motivation/ ability to function in general

Alternatives:
Likely return to grad school to pursue economics and/or teaching.

Any advice would help! Thanks :)

no, don't drop out

Reasons:

-you're not gonna get your money back for this semester, so at most you are looking at saving one semester's worth of expenses
-Any money that would be saved by dropping out for next semester will be recouped by your 2L SA gig
-You've never practiced at a firm before (presumably, otherwise you should have known what you were getting into), so you owe it to yourself to at least try it out
-Since next semester will be a net positive (money wise), you would do yourself a favor to just wait and drop out 3L year if you REALLY HATE IT
-Youre clearly talented in law, so you should give it a shot before quitting

Try and do all corporate/finance/transactional work this summer. You'll never have to look at Lexis/WL again.

Don't drop out. There are so many things you can do with the degree AND practice is nothing like law school.

You know, I was convinced I made a big mistake until I actually worked at a firm in the summer and the hands-on aspect is much more fun than law school. I hate that westlaw lexis shit but it really is different out in practice. I am no expert but certain areas of the law are more academic and research heavy than others.

Since you are a math brain.

Fast Forwarding to your potential future.

JD + CPA + getting licensed in your respected state to do both = A GUARANTEED JOB when you complete. There will be a great deal of options for you.

... just sayin'.
