Time commitment of a secondary journal Forum

Just wondering how people fit it into their schedules. Average semester at my school is 15 credit hours. Im signed up for 16 as of now and apparently participation on a journal counts as another 1 hr.

My options are realistically taking 17 or dropping down to 13 and trying to pick up a short session (half semester) class later in the year.

I'm doing 18 hours next semester, but I don't anticipate that it'll be fun. Also, I haven't done it yet so maybe it's a terrible idea.

At Illinois, journal is one credit hour but will take a lot longer than that. Even secondary journals you have to do a few hours of cite checks a week (although at least you're done earlier than LR) and you have to spend tons of hours on your note. Plus you'll likely be spending at least the beginning of the fall semester looking for a job. That's why I hated 2l. But if you take less credits now you'll just have to take more later. I say take the 17 and hopefully you took a couple paper-writing fluff classes and/or classes where attendance doesn't matter.

Going to depend entirely on the journal. That being said, it generally takes far more time than it deserves.

At least one person in my class has been kicked off their journal for not doing their work adequately. Now he's obviously the exception and not the rule, but there's a certain minimal amount of effort you'll have to put in.

Adequately or at all? Only person kicked off my journal just never turned anything in.
