Classes for Real Estate practice

Post by BruceWayne » Sat Jul 14, 2012 5:09 pm

Other than classes that are directly real estate related (i.e Real Estate Finance Law) what are useful courses for real estate practice?

At least from working in real estate over the summer, there isn't really much distinctive about it from general transactional practice with a particular set of rules. Learning how to read title reports might be helpful as would real estate finance obviously. Maybe trusts and estate to since some states have forced heirship and weird community property rules but i'm not sure this would come up in biglaw. Lastly, negotiation would be helpful I guess. The junior attorneys where I worked did a lot of this for small time deals and condemnations but idk about biglaw associates.

I doubt there are going to be many law school classes on particular topics because they vary so much by state.
