Doing it in July might be worse than doing it right after finals. At least we've been done for a while.3|ink wrote:I'm in the same boat. If the write on was in July I can honestly say I would not do it

Found out I made Law Review today. I guess the 10 days of torture were worth it. Pretty stoked...and sad. lol. Good luck to the rest of you guys.

Re: Motivation needed for write on
My school's write-on comp. doesn't begin until July 27. So, I'm taking this time to adequately prepare. I'm treating this write-on like a final. I've read rule 2 of the bluebook, and the other corresponding rules, I've read the Volokh book, and I've looked at numerous case comments. Beginning tomorrow, I'm writing a practice case comment with materials that I found on the Georgetown law website.
My plan is to treat it as my own case comment and then when I'm done Ill compare and contrast what I wrote with the student sample that was provided. If I can I'd like to do two of these. Hopefully this practice will help me. Good luck to me!

I'm sorry. Can you email the LR people to ask them for a list of people that were selected? That way you can know for sure.istara wrote:"All of the journals have selected their members for the 2012-2013 school year. Those who were selected . . . will be notified today, July 1st."

I figure I will wait until morning, but I will definitely be asking. I thought I would be grading on ("good faith effort" requirement).. so about now I'm kind of freaking out. What an annoying way to announce who got on.

Don't the top 15 students grade on?

Jesus, it is now July, which means the results from my write-on should be out any day now.
This is almost as nerve-wrecking as waiting for my finals grades.

Sorry for those of you waiting; there's no good way to deal with it. Being able to make some of the calls extending invitations to law review was a lot of fun, however.
And notification by mail? Ridiculous.

Re: Motivation needed for write on
the packet said "we hope to notify students BY late July." so that's pretty vague. TBF, it doesn't actually say "we mail you notification." But it does say that notification will be a "letter" from kyle jones, which makes me think mail.JJDancer wrote:OMG, I did not realize they SNAIL MAIL that! Re: Motivation needed for write on
So, I got on (hint: don't give them the wrong number to call).. they immediately sent out the first assignment and I have been doing bluebook citation checks for 3 days now. I have no idea what I'm doing and I might have to cancel my vacation next weekend to get this done in time. Why was this a good idea again?

Just shy of 100. I have read everything I could access from my couch and now I need to head to the library. ~20 minutes per citation sounds about right. It's going to be a rough year.

This is the wrong thread to whine about making law review.istara wrote:Just shy of 100. I have read everything I could access from my couch and now I need to head to the library. ~20 minutes per citation sounds about right. It's going to be a rough year.
