Can tell you that some schools did not give 3Ls grades for their last term as of graduation (Northwestern Law)

Following a curve, how could a school give 3l grades first without grading the rest?

My school just checks to see if they all pass first and then the profs do the grading.

Curving is up to prof, really. At my school, any class a 3L is in isn't going to have 1L's.

Going on 2 weeks since Evidence grade has been posted. I STILL have not checked it yet. Yes, I'm one of those people that could literately start and end school without checking a single grade if I didn't need to...ignorance is blissssssss. When I do check, however, I hope to be pleasantly surprised like Com Law last semester. That would be epic.

That makes sense. So I guess they have to do honors (summa, magna, coif, etc) based on where you stand at the end of fall semester, since they won't know final gpa and rank until after graduation.

Not all schools do Latin honors based on a moving GPA, some have fixed cutoffs.

This is a question I have asked as well. My school actually grades the graduating 3Ls first. The letter grades are already posted, as can be seen in the "grade distributions" chart on our grade release page. The school sets a deadline for 3L grades to be posted that is months earlier than the rest of the grades. I'm sure this is because graduation is only about a week after finals are over, and they do announce latin honors at that time (based on the entire transcript). All of the classes I was in this semester had varying percentages of 3Ls, and I'm not sure how a professor could possibly handle a curve only having read somewhere between 5% and 30% of the papers. A separate curve would seem unfair to the seniors, but integrating them seems difficult as well. At the end of the day, grading is all a mystery anyways. May as well add another layer to it!

First exam was a month and a half ago and still no grades posted. Not even on the directed research I finished in late march. Am disappoint.

All grades back, very happy with the outcome given how badly I screwed up 2L Fall semester. Time for 3LoL GPA padding.

Only bad grade was a B in a two credit class with an all multiple choice final.

Everything else: 3 As, 2 A-s. I booked the class I thought I did the worst in.

All in all, my gpa went up 2Lol year so I can't complain.

Should get As in everything but Evidence. My entire GPA hinges on Evidence, which I should have studied much harder for. Latin honors basically depends on me knocking this semester out of the park - I think I'm ~15 spots away from cum laude.

My finals officially ended three week s ago Friday, first one was a month back...no grades yet.

The few of you who have reported back happily are making me feel better! Still waiting on the rest of my grades, and, as always, hoping for the best!

This has been my best semester of law school, by far. Still waiting on one grade, but good or bad, it can't wreck it. I'm almost at a 3.8 for the semester, a good final grade would push me over.

A- and my first ever real A just came in

Haha, I just got my first A in law school! But it was for a 2-unit independent study :p

I'm waiting on Evidence, but it's a 4 credit class - so my friend calculated and it's the difference between like a 3.1 and a 3.8. The wait is killing me, but, I'm not feeling super confident, so, it's probably better that I don't have it yet. I can enjoy my high GPA while it lasts.

Ambivalent on how I feel about this semester's grades. Worst one yet. But I'm past the point of caring anymore. I enjoy working and not caring about law school.

lol, solotee, those look like my best grades in lawl skool. We have a B curve here though, yours might be more forgiving.

The whole school thought all grades were due today. I'm still missing one. Grrrr...if it's good, though, I have a fair shot to do some class rank jumping. If it's bad, oh well, my scholly is still secure.

Not exactly true. Northwestern lets people walk at graduation but they aren't really graduates until the middle of June when degrees are conferred, which is also after grades are released.

still waiting on two grades. it has been over a month! i got my other two grades back within a week of having taken the test.

Also waiting on two grades. One was finished sometime in mid- to late April, and there are two professors (practitioners) for the seminar with like 11 students.

Went from my worst semester of law school, actually, any school, to my best semester of law school. 2LOL indeed.
