Contracts - Quick Offer and Acceptance

Revocations and counteroffers are effective on receipt. Does receipt mean the day you received the letter or the day you read the letter? Thanks!

I bet there are a bunch of hypos that can stem from that if your teacher has made that a focus of his course. The mailbox rule is fairly arbitrary, though, which makes it hard to apply to different hypotheticals.
