d2 beta wasn't exactly the tits either. In fact all of Act I in diablo ii is kind of forgettable... it's the loot addiction and late game stuff and character customization once you've progressed that made it so awesome.

Edit: honestly as a piece of gaming 'art' diablo I blew diablo II out of the water. Way better mood / story / music / etc.

D3 looks too WOWy from what I saw in the open beta.

Me too--I love D2, and older games like that in general.

I need to beat D3 (minor complaints, but there's still so much of the game we didn't see in the beta!) before law school starts. I'm being really nice to my gf right now to make up for the time I must ignore her later.

What did people want the beta to be? It's the same right clicking every second, walking around aimlessly that you did the first time in d2. In 45 minutes, the beta is over. All non-rts blizzard games are about the loot addiction in end game anyways.

I was looking at the D3 wiki; the new classes are exactly like WoW classes.

Demon Hunter = Hunter
Wizard = Mage
Witch Doctor = Warlock
Barbarian = Warrior
Monk = Rogue

I know everyone and their mother is going to be a Barbarian or Demon Hunter, so I'm thinking I'll roll Monk.

it's not about the beta content - obviously act one is going to be pretty boring. i'm just not happy with a lot of the design decisions, and since i haven't followed the game's development that closely, i didn't learn about it until i got into beta. 4 player max is particularly shitty, and i don't like the skill tree system at all. not really digging the unique loot or the way group MF is handled, either. the entire game reeks of casualization - inevitable, i know, but still annoying.

Thank god this doesn't come out until a few days after my finals end. And thank god I have a week off before SA starts so I can play it endlessly. Signed up to do the midnight pickup line, so I can chill with the other mid-20's nerds who have been waiting 12 years for this

Just to echo some of the sentiment in here, I was not impressed with the BETA.

Morrowind FTW. I think the really big thing that made me dislike oblivion/skyrim was the level scaling. There were a few mods that attempted to fix the issue, but it wasn't the same.

So glad this skyrim bashing is not tainting the general video game thread
