Unfortunately, no, but they have British accents, which counts for something at least.

I think the WSJ or another newspaper would be better for your purposes, OP. It's more skim-able, plus you'd get new info daily instead of weekly.

the economist is not a good primary news source and is organized in a way that runs counter the OPs interests (by topic rather than relevance)

WSJ/NPR/BBC/Al Jazeera English/NYT

I would suggest The Economist, but you didn't ask what to read in order to appear pretentious.

Try out the daily lit wikipedia grand tour. On dailylit.com they have a thing where they send you a wikipedia article every day organized into category.
