Study Chair - Herman Miller Aeron any good?

Postby OnePostWonder » Sat Jan 28, 2012 8:01 pm

I'm about to buy a used HM Aeron for $400; I study in my room so it's probably worth it.

Quick question, though, for those of you more experienced with the world: Do I have to worry about "knockoff" chairs? I contacted some guy off craigslist and he sounds pretty shady and said he doesn't have a receipt or anything. I'm hoping he just stole it or something instead of it being a fake but I have no idea (it's a $900 chair).

Why would you pay to sit on a chair that collected someone else's farts?

I want to punch you in the pancreas so badly.

I use a $75 chair from Office Max that works perfectly.

Holy shit. Fuck law students.

I might have to withdraw all my outstanding applications after reading this. Is this really what law students are like?

for the most part, yes. See every TLS post regarding suits, ties, shoes, and shirts for men. I actively don't speak with more than 10 students at my school; everyone else is insufferable.

Clothing talk at least has some substance. Chair talk is no good.

Before going to law school I worked for an authorized Herman Miller dealer. Just saying that it was a running joke among those that worked there that the chairs are horribly overpriced. Yeah its a good chair and itll last for ten years of constant office use but even if you buy a 75 dollar office max chair every year for ten years you come out ahead. Additionally, YOUR IN LAW SCHOOL and don't need an ergonomic chair

Upside: Five years from now, when you're making $10 an hour waiting tables at Chili's, at least you'll have that sweet Aeron waiting for you at home.

If you've never sat in an Aeron, go to a store and try it out. I think you'll be able to tell if the guy is trying to sell you a knockoff; it seems like it would be hard to produce a convincing counterfeit.

To be fair, I'm going to assume the OP has some type of issue that demands that particular chair. Otherwise, wow.
