Brutal. At least this way you won't add another 100 unofficial transcripts to your list?
debatable

judging from the substantive comments, that probably took me from an A- to a B+

And we don't get As, Bs, etc. Median is 3.3 (not B+) and grades are given in increments of .1 from 2.x all the way up to 4.3.
Yup. Still not stopping me from checking for grades every day, though.

1L grade waiting is the WORST! I went through it last year and survived, although I thought I died.

The first grade I got back was my Civ Pro. grade which was like a 79 (anything below a 78 is failing here). I was crying I wanted to jump off the law school bridge (not really but at the time...). Then two AGONIZING days later I got an email from my professor saying she messed up my exam and didn't grade it properly (she didn't grade the second of two questions, WTF right?) and my score went WAY up. The rest of my grades were great and I freaked out for nothing. Food for thought. I honestly can say those two days were a drunken blur though :)

Damn, that sounds pretty awful.

As a sidebar… go green! Hoping I can see Sparty do his thing in NOLA this April.

Quick question.

After hearing stories of people whose professor gave them a lower grade by making a mistake in grading...

Are there any stories of people who were given an A or A- but then later the professor said they made a mistake and gave them a lower grade?

They haven't given us a specific time, but +1. I kind of have a cold anyways so I was kinda thinking of taking some Nyquil tonight so I can sleep in for as long as possible to avoid the waiting game.

I ran into my torts professor while I was checking out some books from the library today. He pointed out something that relieved me and at the same time terrified me. At least in my school, professors are free to give out whatever number of grades they want as long as they average out to the schools mandatory curve.

He could give out 20 A's as long as he averages it out to whatever the curve is. However, he could also not give out any A's...

All of my grades have been basically within the same range of each other. My exam that I thought I did the worst on ended up being the best grade so far.

Cant wait for LRW to break the trend.

3L here but yes this could happen, theoretically. It happened to me. My first semester, my school screwed up EVERYONE's grades. Something happened with the bling grading system and all the grades in like two classes got mixed up and posted. Then a few days later they notified everyone that the grades were screwed up and they had to correct them. I ended up going from an A in torts to a B but my grade in Crim law went up so I guess it kind of balanced out? Anyways, just a terrible thing to happen in your first semester but probably fairly uncommon.

Has anyone noticed changes in their section after grades were released? People who were really social and volunteered a lot have really gotten quiet, whereas the quiet people who never raised their hands are all smiles and enthusiastic about raising their hands. The first few days back most people were visibly upset and distraught. Even saw students crying in class. There are also a few people in my section I have yet to even see attend class (may have dropped out, I dunno). Thing that kind of pissed me off was that profs were like "oh you guys are still so tired after winter break I see *kneeslap* LULZ!!11". No, its because you medianpwned half the class :|

We've only gotten half of our grades back, but I have noticed these kinds of changes. But crying in class about grades? That's a little ridiculous. If these people can't hold it together/have thick enough skin to not let a few grades render them infantile, I can only imagine how they will conduct themselves if they find employment as an attorney. I can certainly feel empathy for those who are stressed about their future opportunities when they receive poor marks, but keep it together in public (especially around colleagues).

Yeah, I felt bad and it is just kind of depressing because the first day back it was very noticeable. The sad thing is we have only half our grades back as well.

I don't think things have really changed, people are generally the same. I see a lot more people doing job related stuff in class though instead of online shopping (myself included). I also heard some tool bragging about getting an A+ in the hallway to a bunch of people, but he is a major gunner, so that kind of thing is slightly to be expected.

Haha gunner douches. But seriously, I am slightly annoyed about my law school friends casually asking about grades/talking about grades in general. My group definitely varies in ability level and it was so awkward telling my buddy who just got a C that I managed to pull an A- when he asked me how I did. I would never ask anyone how they did, and I can't believe the number of people here that openly ask other people what grade they received.

I didn't tell my friends my grades because I thought it would be awkward like that. They were saying how if they got A's they would be excited and tell everyone, but I just felt like too big of an ass to be like "oh hey, I got two." I don't think I would ever ask someone exactly what grade they got. I just asked them if they were happy with how they did in general.

My final 2 grades are almost up. They have been submitted by the prof, just need to be approved by the registrar, which usually takes less than a day. Hoping I get them tomorrow.

*crosses fingers*

If askrd directly, just say, "sorry, but I don't discuss grades." I did this w/ regards to exams and it worked fine. Most people won't straight up ask and instead talk about how they did in the hopes that you will too. If you don't reciprocate they likely assume that they did better anyway, so win-win.
