Oral Argument While Sick

Post by TTH » Thu Dec 01, 2011 9:43 am

I've got to do an oral argument tonight (graded) and I've got a head cold. I'm coughing a lot and occasionally blowing my nose. I'm sure I'm not the first person who's had to do this, so I'm just wondering what people have done to get through arguments without getting marked down for a lack of poise or some silly shit.

Afrin nasal spray. It's nasty stuff but it'll completely empty out your nose/sinuses for 8 hours or so. Don't use it for more than 3 days (as it says on the bottle) and be prepared for night sweats (I always get from it). That should help cut down on the coughing too. Also, buy a cough suppressant, not an expectorant (makes you cough up shit...which is better for healing but not for staying quiet/talking).

Also, I'd apologize to the "court" at the beginning and explain you're recovering from an illness.
