Trying to re-read sections of GTM, going cross-eyed. Is there, like, an outline for GTM? I know people have outlined E&Es before...

How do people have trouble with this format? It's not that complicated.

Yeah, but it's a stewing chicken, so it doesn't count.

Do professors see word counts from Exam Soft?

I heard they don't?

That they only get a printed out copy?

^ My professors have told us they won't read one word past the word limit. I don't know how that'd work without a word count.

You shouldn't be spending time focusing on this. If a professor gives you a word limit, stick to it. I can think of literally no possible way your studying or exam-taking would change depending on the answer to this question.

I heard they just say that.

But that they actually get a printed out copy which doesn't show the word count.

I'm not sure how great the difference is between Exam Soft and Electronic Bluebook, but I took a midterm in EBB and the (graded) copy returned to us by the professor clearly lists the word count at the end of each question.

But either way, it's probably a good idea to stay within the limit.

I'm hoping they do. Lots of people went over word count today. I didn't, but my answer may suffer if word count isn't enforced (others' answers would certainly be more thorough). Just curious...

Yeah.

I talked to like 5 people who were like 200-250 words over the word limit but were so confident it wouldn't matter.

One guy went 450 words over.

Not sure why people ITT seem to think the program can't print the word count if it can know the word count, and it can print the text.

Also curious how it'd be enforced. The "won't read a word over the limit" thing seems tough if it just gives a total word count. Maybe grade goes down a third? I just want to know I won't be fucked by NOT going over the limit.

Not necessarily a question, just thinking out-loud (or, rather, through typing).

Seems like it could even be a possibility that the program simply lets a professor print out the first X words of the program. I'm no programmer or anything, but that doesn't seem like it would be so hard.

Anyways, probly best like everyone else said to just stay within the limits. Why test your luck?

Geez, what's everyone's deal with word count obsession? Writing more does not necessarily equal a better grade. And if you're given a word count limit, just freaking stay below the limit. Simple. Not a big deal.

If I remember correctly ours printed out with a little cover sheet. I am almost positive the character count was on that, so the word count probably was as well or could be programmed to show up.

You're most likely correct then.

I guess these people were deluding themselves.

Seems silly, but if it's not enforced, then you can potentially get fucked over for actually following it.

Easier said than done with the word limit is 25 words.

Teachers most certainly see the word count, unless they disable it or something. Our teacher printed off a model answer from last year that had a word count and character count on the front page
