Farnsworth or or Perillo for Contracts Hornbook?

Professor has no recommendation that I can ascertain, I have Dawson's casebook.
As a general rule, is it better to get a hornbook written by your casebook author even if it's not considered the "best" one?

It's better to not buy a hornbook unless you determine that you absolutely need one. If you do, try starting with something light like Chirelstein.

Chirelstein sucked, get Acing Contracts. I recommend starting with a light supp as well, plus your library probably has Farnsworth on reserve anyway.

Yeah so far it doesn't seem too bad (knocking on wood). I'll probably just get Chirelstein and borrow the E&E but I was just wondering.

I loved Perillo. Convinced it is the reason I did well in the class. My prof was heavy on economic analysis.

I cannot imagine any reason why a law student would want to buy an honest-to-god hornbook.

well to state the obvious I want to maximize my chances of doing well. I'm told by most IRL people that hornbooks are not needed unless you are lost (i.e. probably a good idea for Civil Procedure, usually not necessary for something more straightforward like Torts), but was just asking.
I probably won't *buy* as in spend actual money on one (library ftw), but in terms of actually *using* a hornbook. I already have Freer and Dressler for other classes and most of the E&Es. My Contracts professor is actually really good, so I might not need it. I'll check it out for myself, but if there is little utility to it for it maybe not.
A lot of it is just my compulsion for a single one size fits all answer. I look at advice threads of people who did really well, and one person recommends buying a hornbook and E&E for every single class, while other people say just the E&E and maybe another minor non-hornbook supplement suffice. It's me trying to minimize regret-I'd rather regret spending so much time on hornbooks after doing well than the obverse. But then I have a finite amount of time and I'll go crazy giving myself extra work. Some TLS threads have caused me to doubt my work ethic despite, for example, reading and understanding mostly everything in Torts without outside material. I guess I just have to get into the swing of things and find out.

In terms of hornbooks, Perillo is more readable and up-to-date.
Farnsworth is a class, but I think it's getting dated, and a little more of a slog.

Go visit your library and ask them if they have any of those books available for you to check out for a while. Then take a look at them and see if any of them seem helpful to you. Choose accordingly.

I used Farnsworth exclusively (didn't even read casebook) and got an A+ in Ks, but YMMV

Farnsworth is really dense and his wording is annoying. Our prof put this on our required materials, but I don't think I'll be using it very much. I'll probably be using:
Casebook = E&E >>>>>>>> Farnsworth hornbook for any remaining ambiguities

Yeah my prof seems to like economic analysis too and calamari and perillo seem slightly more readable. But the Farnsworth name...don't want to use a TTT supplement
