New Free Dropbox-Like Cloud Storage from Amazon

Post by sundance95 » Tue Mar 29, 2011 10:27 pm

Just wanted to let everyone know that Amazon is giving away 5GB of Dropbox style cloud backup. I'll probably use this as additional storage to my Dropbox. HTH.

$1000/yr for a TB. Pricey. Cheaper than Dropbox though.

Well, yeah. I'm thinking most law student users would be okay with the free 5 GB? Dropbox only gives away 2. Anyway, just throwing it out there.

Dropbox is still better, because of its automatic syncing when you save files in the My Dropbox folder, so you don't have to waste time uploading files.

And Dropbox makes it easier when you use two different computers. For example, I use a laptop at school and a desktop at home, but my Dropbox syncs files between both of them automatically. Amazon can't do that!

Good points. I'm definitely still keeping my Dropbox.

I think it's a good move on Amazon's part, but Dropbox is clearly still superior. However, Dropbox better step it up, as Amazon tends to be pretty good at this kind of thing and won't lag behind long.

School stuff in dropbox, favorite music in Amazon cloud. Sounds good.
