You're on the right track here. The main Jil line also has slim fit shirts, as they're a crucial component of the overall designer aesthetic. Those shirts tend to run on the expensive side, but if you buy when there's a sale, you can get some steals.strokes788 wrote:UNIQLO (but it's only in NYC, however their J+ slim fit shirts are an epic win for slim fit dress shirts for a great price, and it works just as well for guys who are on the shorter side and thin (I'm not very tall and I'm very very thin). If no access, then Zara is probably your best bet

IMO, a good tie is a better life investment than a hugely expensive shirt.
A good tie can last you for life if you baby it, and really sets you apart. The difference between a $60-$80 tie and a $20 - $30 tie is huge.
Dress shirts are gonna get worn out, no 2 ways around it. The collar will eventually start to get ragged, and things eventually start to stretch out or rip. You can get good fitted or slim fit Kennith Cole NY dress shirts on sale for less than $50. You can get DKNY or Tommy Hilfiger slim fit dress shirts for even less. You can generally find this stuff at dept. stores, but a lot of times liquidators like Ross or TJ Maxx will have them too. I make a policy of just always being on the lookout for a cheap slim fit dress shirt in my size. Buy a ton at this quality level, and make sure to get them cleaned every 3-4 wears, so your collars don't get too nasty.

Boys dept. shirts will have sleeves that are too short for an adult (even a short one) and you can't really find great quality, even at Nordstroms there is a limited young men's formal section.

Kamakura Shirts on Madison Ave or at Brookfield Place. Several different slim fits, top-notch customer service, and high quality shirts made in Japan for $79. There aren't any sales, so don't stress about waiting around for the right time.

People, please don't respond when a spammer bumps a 4-year-old thread.

TCR for skinny dudes, especially when they run their $100/3 or $30/each sales.Big Shrimpin wrote:Dunno if anyone has said it yet, but Charles Tyrwhitt "Tailored" fit shirts are TCR . . . right now, especially, since they're having a 4 for $199 sale. I'm like 6' 0'' and 150-55 lbs. These CT tailored-fit shirts fit me like a glove . . . FAR better than BB slimfit, IMO.
Also, I'm lazy as fuk, so I only buy non-iron shirts. CT > BB in that respect as well, IMO.
