Law Student Taking Donations on eBay...What do you think? Forum

I am a big eBayer, so when I was surfing around last night I found this post of of a law student who is looking for people to donate $5 at a time for her legal education. I didn't even know you could do that on eBay haha

Thoughts?

P.S. I took a screen shot but I don't know how to put a picture on my post, if someone will let me know how then I will share the pic.

You have to upload the picture to the net somewhere "imageshack or something like that, I think you can use facebook, but dunno how" then include the URL in a "Img" format that you can click on when writing a message.

Why not just include the link to the auction? I know a bunch of people who set up donations to their legal funds. Never understood that, but it's probably a smart idea. New age panhandling.

2) If she is top 5%, why is she worrying about repaying her loans???

This is absolutely ridiculous and reeks of a scam. If you can't afford to pay for LS yourself, you should 1) not go or 2) take out loans like the rest of us.

If you're top 5% at Cornell you should be seeing $$$ in your future. I wouldn't worry if I were her assuming all the facts that she provided are true and this isn't a scam (my personal vote).

I think this is real and simply an effort to buy sympathy with a creative new donation scheme. Shame on this person who is going to an elite law school and probably is well off compared to the average person.

This underlying sympathy principle certainly applies to how the gubmint does things with handing out disability, unemployment insurance, and certainly all types of other benefits arising out of someone being poor.

Someone told the girl that she was on TLS and then she contacted me on here saying she is being harassed by people about the posting and asked that I take down the link. I want to respect her wishes, so I removed the link.

I would be worried about this person's privacy if someone were posting things that she didn't mean to make public, but if you post something on freaking eBay, you're trying to get seen.
