I'll give you a helping hand by posting my 2.7 when it comes back.

If it makes you feel better, some of the posters are probably not 100% truthful.
I'm not so sure of this. I think people that get good grades are simply more likely to post them. I find the prospect that people would lie about them on a mostly anonymous internet forum pretty weird. What would anyone have to gain from that?

I also think the TLS type is more likely to be realistically engaged in law school, as people who post on here are automatically going to be more obsessive: after all, they're spending many hours of free time chatting about and researching the very subject. There's a mentality that you catch from this place that many students don't automatically have before they enter the fray. And I think it's a pretty useful mentality, although it does induce some panic (which is also good in a way). It might be a bit of self-selection, or it might be a bit of the fact that TLS actually has some very good resources and advice. It's probably a bit of both, but if someone were able to do a scientific study, I wouldn't be surprised in the least bit if the median TLS poster was significantly above median in their grades.

It's great to see everyone doing so well! It's probably wishful thinking to hope that I can live up to the standards set in this tread. Yep, I'm definitely waiting until I get back from Arizona to check my grades, lol. I can't risk my weekend being ruined. Good luck to everyone still waiting.

Part of what scares me is that I walked out feeling like I booked my Civ Pro exam, walked out of crim feeling like I did sort of okay, and came out of torts a bit freaked out because I actually ran out of shit to talk about with 5 minutes left (on yer standard torts issue spotter). I feel like I could be all over the fucking map with my grades.

What are you planning to do to work harder? It's hard for me to imagine putting even more time or energy into law school than I did last semester. Or will you be cutting out some things you thought were less helpful? I'm trying to figure out my 2nd semester game plan

I guess it would be more accurate to say my goal is to work slightly harder, but also much smarter.

I thought there was a lot of wasted effort and time on things that were of limited use. I spent way too much time and money on supplements for instance.

I also want to outline throughout the semester. Although it worked out, I would have wanted to start with practice exams earlier. Instead, I was hustling to finish outlining before Thanksgiving rather than reviewing and applying law to facts.

There's some good info to chew on in this thread: http://www.top-law-schools.com/forums/v ... 3&t=141423

Apparently people lie about LSAT score, so why not grades? Plus, you would think that those who didn't do well would be less likely to post grades due to embarrassment.

Anyway, the rest of my grades are definitely not living up to my first two; it's just luck of the order (the two grades I have are the two classes I felt best about in general).

ILikeIke wrote: You get your grades on SIS. However, before they release the grades, they post the Course Evaluation on LawWeb. So if you want to know when a grade release is imminent (usually that night, but I've seen it be MUCH slower), you can check the Completed Course Evaluations for this semester.

Sorry for giving you a new page to obsessively refresh. :D (But you're right that it would be a rare section where no one checked and reported back to the section listserv.)

If it helps at all, though, my first grade last year didn't come out until mid-January, so if that's any indication, it may be at least another week until we see movement.

Good luck with the wait and the grades!
FYI - first UVA 1L grade posted last night (Civ Pro). Maybe the others will start rolling in soon?

The professors at my school have some discretion as to how the class is curved. They can give as few as 20% A's and as many as 30% A's. That difference is monumental to me. I feel pretty confident that I can finish among the top third in any class and could theoretically end up with at least a few A's. But finishing in the top fifth seems endlessly more unlikely

3.0+4.0+4.0+4.0= 15.0/4= 3.75 GPA

Chin up bro, you may have done better than you thought, and there is still one more semester.
I suppose. I guess the depressing thing is that I literally tried my best, so I have no idea where to start on alternative study habits. But on the bright side, again, it could be a lot worst.

I had started to assume that my school would release all the grades at one time, but my roommates got a grade back today so I guess my professors are just have hatred in their hearts for 1Ls.

I feel your pain. Some sections have two grades back, but mine has zero. :(

Are the people at WUSTL who had Greenfield in the same super-section as the people who had Mandelker? Or did the Greenfield people have DeGeest?

IOW, is my super-section the only one not to have received anything yet?

Super-section with Mandelker had DeGeest for K's. So yes, your section is the only one with 0 grades...

i think half of our supersection got their legal writing grades back today, so i believe now we are the only small section that hasnt got a grade back yet.

that being said, who didnt see this coming from our property and legal writing professors?

CivPro course evaluations showed up this morning (or last night, I didn't check) so those section's grades will be up...but my section isn't one of them.

dammit

I was actually holding it together pretty well until I got my property exam grade yesterday. Now I am really, really anxious.
