Oh shit, good news.

Congratulations! Fuck those $200. A drop of water out of the ocean of money you're gonna swim in with a degree from the school you transfer to.

Ha! I wish...

@ Keg, I'm uneasy about sharing info about my dream school because other people from my school post here... don't want to jeopardize my anonymity.

Anyway, thanks everyone.

got my contracts grade back. Good news: didn't bottom out the curve like I honestly believed. Bad news: right below median :( luckily I got an A- in the fall semester, so still got a shot at coming out of this spring final disaster with a B+ overall

Do most schools have classes spread out over two semesters? All my 1L classes were single-semester, 4 credit classes.

I think covering certain courses (civ pro, contracts, con law) in only one semester is a relatively new development that lots of schools have not adopted. Not sure how common it is for a school to operate one way or the other, but NYU does everything in one semester. All the 1L classes are worth four credits, except for Civ Pro, which meets an extra hour each week and is worth five.

Last semester I busted my ass, and the general outcome was A-. This semester I looked up the case summaries on wiki, started outlining after the semester ended, and the general outcome so far is an A-. I just don't understand law school. Of course now I'm going to get a C in something because I posted this...

All of our courses are one semester and 4 credits except for LRW (which is 2 first semester and 2 second semester). No first year elective. Feel like we're an outlier, but personally, I like this structure.

It seems to be really common to get your grades in one by one...Cornell gives them all at once about 3 weeks after finals end :?

Wake Forest does the same. Even worse, I've bumped into each of my teachers this week at school and they've all turned the grades in.

No closure is such a bitch.

I'm ripping off the band-aid all at once this semester. Can't wait to see the festering wound that results.

It sounds a lot nicer than it is. I wasn't all that anxious about my grades until I got the first. Now I'm a raving lunatic, refreshing the grades page every 10 minutes or so. And I know the last one still won't be released for another three weeks (at least). It would be much less disruptive to get all of them at that time.

We get them all at once, too, and I definitely prefer it that way. I had to wait about 10 minutes for all of my grades to be loaded onto the system last semester, and I almost had a heart attack. I can't imagine waiting weeks in between.

I would way rather get them all at once (they come separately here).. Though I do think the momentary heart-attack factor would be stronger in that case right as they are coming out. But I'd still prefer that to having a near heart-attack stretch out for over a week or so.

We get them all at once, but it takes 6-7 weeks.

And my grade confidence level has finally bottomed out. Fully expecting a 3.0 now. "I am not a unique and special snowflake. I am not a unique and special snowflake. All of my exams were easy. All of my exams were easy. All of my exams were easy. You are going to be below median. You are going to be below median."

If a student's year-long GPA is below 3.1, and the school curves to a 3.3... And that would lose their full scholarship... Although they hate the drama, competition, and antisocial cynicism of law school, they like actually learning about the law. They do have a decent public interest internship in DC for this summer.

Would you suggest that person drop out? Or, rather, any advice in general?

well (1) how much of a schly are we talking here, (2) are you willing to work in public interest for 10 years and (3) what other options do you have?

it always baffles me that people ask a bunch of cynical elitists on TLS whether or not to drop out. to each their own, i guess.

actually, most of the people who I know regularly give advice go to schools outside the t-13,

as for being cynical..well you can only see students get ripped off, and then experience it first hand, before your perception of law school begins to change. maybe you should stop drinking the kool-aid?

Our grades keep trickling in one by one with no word or indication that they were being posted, and when the next ones are going to be. Ugh. This is worse than when I installed that auto-refresh plugin for LSAT scores.

Just checked...nothing new. But now I'm terrified and will probably be checking every few minutes :?

We'd find other things to do without a steady stream of should-I-drop-out threads.

B+ in Property. I feel like a total jerk for being upset about this, but I was counting on an A and I really thought I got one. There goes my transfer aspirations :(
