I will end up with really horrifying law school dreams instead of just unnerving ones.Borhas wrote:law school dreams? That's grimy as hell, I recommend blacking out every night in that case

so say someone got stright B+ grades at a school where 35% get A/A-; 50% get B+/B/B-; 15% get C+ or below. Where would said theoretical person end up rank wise?

sorry if this isnt a direct answer to your question (im terrible at math), but; your curve distributes 35% A/A-s??? jealousgwuorbust wrote:so say someone got stright B+ grades at a school where 35% get A/A-; 50% get B+/B/B-; 15% get C+ or below. Where would said theoretical person end up rank wise?

Recommended distribution at UT is 35% A+/A/A-, 55% B+/B/B-, and 10% C+ or below and we are at a 3.3 median. So all B+'s here would be median. Maybe it's a little above median where you're at?gwuorbust wrote:so say someone got stright B+ grades at a school where 35% get A/A-; 50% get B+/B/B-; 15% get C+ or below. On a related note, on a 3.3 median curve, say that 35% of the distribution had to be A's or A-. Does that mean out of a class of 100 students, 35 will get an A or A-?Richie Tenenbaum wrote:Recommended distribution at UT is 35% A+/A/A-, 55% B+/B/B-, and 10% C+ or below and we are at a 3.3 median. Or could it be less than that if the professor gives out more A's than A-'s?

Re: 1L grade waiting thread
We have a mandatory curve for 1L large sections where 30-40% must be A+,A,A-. The mean for each class must be between 3.25 and 3.35. So yeah, it could be less than 35% depending on how many A's (or A+'s for those on a 4.3 curve) and how many low grades the professor gives out.solotee wrote:On a related note, on a 3.3 median curve, say that 35% of the distribution had to be A's or A-. Re: 1L grade waiting thread
At UCLA the 3.3 curve distributes more towards the middle, rather than top/bottom heavy (around 27% A/A- and just a handful of C's), but professors split the A's and A-'s evenly. so in a hypothetical class of 100, around 13 kids will get A's, and 13 kids will get A-'s.solotee wrote:On a related note, on a 3.3 median curve, say that 35% of the distribution had to be A's or A-. A and A- is top quarter where I'm at. B+ is the curve.
