Re: 1L grade waiting thread
Apparently there is a rule that profs teaching only 1 class, or teaching multiple classes with less than 140 students must submit grades within four weeks of the exam date. I thought this sounded like 1L gossip nonsense and I doubted there was any such rule, but apparently it is on the Registrar's website under the grading policies, so it sounds legit.
The last exam I am waiting to hear back on (torts) was exactly four weeks ago. Gulp. Guessing I'll either get my grade today or tomorrow, and then my semester will be complete.
Then again, there is a chance my prof ignores this rule and he'll just tell the administration to get lost and wait another week.

You've been in law school long enough to know that 50-60k is neither shitlaw, nor even remotely easy to get, especially at a lower tiered school.gwuorbust wrote:lot of smaller law firms don't care about GPA as much. if you're fine making 50-60k a year doing shiTTTlaw, then GPA probably doesn't matter that much. what school range?

Re: 1L grade waiting thread
Just tired of people talking about small firms like they're automatically crap, assuming 50-60k jobs are the lowest end of the spectrum (because it gets much, much worse for thousands of grads), and assuming these types of jobs are easy to get or even attainable at all by people at the lower ranked school or below median.mistergoft wrote:THANK YOU.romothesavior wrote:You've been in law school long enough to know that 50-60k is neither shitlaw, nor even remotely easy to get, especially at a lower tiered school.gwuorbust wrote:lot of smaller law firms don't care about GPA as much. if you're fine making 50-60k a year doing shiTTTlaw, then GPA probably doesn't matter that much. what school range?
There are a lot of 3Ls and recent grads at respectable schools who would lop off a testicle for a 60k/year law firm job right now.

Sorry to hear that dude. Hope something works out for you.mistergoft wrote:<<<<romothesavior wrote:There are a lot of 3Ls and recent grads at respectable schools who would lop off a testicle for a 60k/year law firm job right now.
Bombed the LSAT, I'd recommend dropping out if you are below median. I know that's hard to swallow, but if you're at a T3/T4 school with those grades, odds are you're on your way to unemployment. If you are going for free or something, then maybe you could justify sticking with it just to give it a shot and get the degree (and to buy yourself some time to figure out what you want to do). But if you took out loans or are about to lose your scholly, get out ASAP. Going in the first place was probably a bad call, and compounding that bad call by burying yourself further in debt for little to no job prospects is not smart.
I know that's a harsh opinion and likely not what you wanted to hear, but you asked, so that's my candid opinion.

Do grades even matter at a TTT? It's it all networking at that point?

I don't think it's really that desperate at this point, but striking out at OCI is unnerving.romothesavior wrote:Sorry to hear that dude. Military is always looking for engineers but who knows it'd be years since I did real engineering.
Edit: I'm probably even too big a failure for them.
