I'm irritated and gradeless a month from finals too but I'm not going to make ridiculous claims like the bolded.
Because you don't go to an elite school. This all should be obvious by now. FWIW, as a member a school ranked higher than UVA by United States News and the World Reporter, I demand grades at least three days sooner than them. This is preposterous.

Manhattan is our primary market, I'm guessing yours is some fill-in-the-blank "city" in the Midwest?

Starting to feel like this too, the ignorance is kind of nice... like freezing to death.
it should be ripped off at once, like a bandaid. not drop by drop over a period of weeks --> torture.
Agreed.

This morning, a classmate said the registrar told him that our final grade was posted, the system just needed to update and we'd be able to see it. Now, my entire class is online, checking their transcript every few minutes. It has pretty much ruined everybody's day.

Registrar's story sounded kinda like BS to me. This isn't the 1980s... system updates and interfaces happen automatically these days.

Based off of the info provided by OCS, nearly a quarter of the class gets a private firm job in NYC after graduation (that doesn't count PI work or clerkships - the number would be even higher then), taking into account the 2007-2009 graduating classes. Also, again, it's our primary market. One of Michigan's greatest strengths is the diversity of geographic placement. We're one of the strongest schools to place into the SF market. How many other Midwestern law schools can boast of that?

No. And the fact that that went totally over your head emphasizes just how much you've let this website take over your life. Secondary market trolling? 90 percent of the people in my class literally wouldn't understand what that sentence meant. Do you not realize that normal people don't consider the United States outside of NYC to be "secondary"? If you told a normal person that trying to get a job somewhere other than NYC was "secondary market trolling" they'd look at you like you were speaking Swahili.

We're supposed to get grades on 1/20. Not sure about LRW, though.
Are you going by the date listed on the registrar website? If so, I've been told that is the date the professors are expected to turn in the grades. A few 2Ls have said that grades are generally released a week later.

But maybe this year will be different.
The thing I'm seeing says faculty have to submit grades by 5 PM on 1/14, and that grades will be posted by 5 PM on 1/20.

Pennoyer: a classic "wtf is this shit". Don't worry though, 90% of the case is useless now. It's just a baptism in fire intro to the course.

Just got my last grade. I had kind of high hopes, so a grade just under those hopes can't help but feel a little bittersweet.
