I totally understand the stress, but you should still be able to grade on even if you at the low end of your expectations. Your lowest grade last semester was an A- right? You'll be fiiiinnnneee!! Also, Dean Brokaw said there'll be some regression towards the mean this semester, so most top students will see a GPA drop. I mean, I am going to make an epic fall this semester that will end up crushing my hopes and dreams in a fraction of a second, but you'll be fine.Omerta wrote:top 5%=top 15 people. The "bubble" spot (highest ranked person who doesn't grade on) was a 3.7x after first semester, so there's not a lot of wriggle room. Besides, the firm I want at OCI hasn't hired anyone outside of the top 5 people here.forty-two wrote:What, so moving down to number 7 in the class is just a good, not great, semester to you??? Just kidding...kind of.Omerta wrote:Predictions this time around
LWRAP: A- (got it back already)

Con law: A
IP: A/A+ (felt very good about this one)
Crim: B+
I feel pretty good about all my exams besides Crim. Just like Contracts last semester, Crim. is the exam that separates a good semester from a great one. Fortunately, I was wrong about Contracts last time, but we'll see if it works out.

Re: 1L grade waiting thread
We were done last Friday and I almost forgot I need to start impulsively checking for grades ... sigh. I thought every exam last semester went well; every one this semester was absolutely brutal. Keeping my fingers crossed for another median semester, how sad is that?

Taking the first one today, but considering the tiny amount I've bothered to study for any so far, I'm guessing:
Torts: C+
Civ Pro: C+
Con Law: C
LRW (done with it, obviously): S or H (not graded, but can get Satisfactory, Honors or High Honors)

We don't use letter grades at my school like the rest of you pansies....this isn't soccer during 2nd grade recess. No ties, no smiles, just throat slashing gunnerism. ULTRA COMPETITIVE "MERITOCRACY", FTW.
Contracts and Con Law are done so far.
Guesstimates:
K's- 89
Con Law- 84
85 is median.

My guesstimate is that my grades are somewhere between "putting me in a sweet spot for a COA clerkship" and "making me completely unemployable."

I predict that if my GPA goes down by .1 or less, I will buy drinks for all TLSers that attend the Loyola PLIP

If I can pull off higher than a B- in Property and a B in State & Local, I will consider it a win.mths wrote:fixed it for youHolly Golightly wrote:Guesses:

Re: 1L grade waiting thread
I seriously think I messed up my contracts exam. I spotted the issues, had all the rules/arguments in my head, but I ran low on time and made some bad judgment calls. No way I could have covered all the issues in the allotted time, but I think I made some bad calls on what to cover and what not to cover. Hopefully I can salvage a reasonable grade, but I am sure I will lose a lot of sleep over contracts the week before grades are released.
Fairly sure I did well on my other finals. Legal Writing is questionable because I spent 2 days writing the memo and some of my classmates spent a lot more. I did book it last semester though so I think I have a decent shot at an A. But who knows, last semester I thought I had done worst in one of the classes I ended up booking.

Re: 1L grade waiting thread
Could honestly go either way. I know I messed some up, but part of me hopes that since I lucked out last semester, I may also luck out this semester. Either way, today the new dean of our law school sent out an e-mail saying that they were getting rid of all scholarship stips. - so no one can lose their money. I've never heard such loud cheers in my life. My only wish: he would have told us sooner, so that people wouldn't have given a fuck about the finals.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
