Re: 1L grade waiting thread
Fuck waiting for grades. This shit is seriously the worst. Hey professors, you teach 2 fucking classes. There's no reason it should take a month and a half for me to see if my grades, and to see if killself is warranted.

Re: 1L grade waiting thread
Last year grades 1L grades were all released by the end of Jan I think. The official deadline for profs having 1L grades in is Jan 16th, but 1) some are late and 2) even once they're in it can take the registrar up to a week to get them online because we don't have web grading(meaning profs enter them into a scantron sheet by exam number and then registrar puts them onto albert which takes an idiotically long time and they get backlogged by several days)clintonius wrote:Yeah, when do ours come out? Meanwhile, this wait is slowly killing me.

FML.
I was done on the 15th (29th of November for LRW) and I won't be getting mine back until the end of January.

Pretty sure that's the date they gave us, too. Not sure how it takes so long to grade exams, especially since only one of my exams was a true write-a-treatise-in-3.5-hours issue spotter.JCougar wrote:We have just been informed that we will get our grades no later than January 21st -- a full month and a half after exams.

Re: 1L grade waiting thread
Part of me is glad the profs spend a lot of time grading, because I want them to take their time with it. But even if they were grading slowly and meticulously and only grading ten papers per day, they'd still be able to finish grading in 10 days (or if they teach 2 classes, 15-20 days). Plus, they don't do anything during finals period, so they essentially get another 12 days of break once finals start. And they've been doing this for years and years and years. So seriously, wtf takes so long?

The long wait allows me to not let myself worry until much later. Because of this I actually get to enjoy my holidays.

The heck kind of backwardness is this?!? I thought we were in the 21st century, my bad.sophie316 wrote:we don't have web grading(meaning profs enter them into a scantron sheet by exam number and then registrar puts them onto albert which takes an idiotically long time and they get backlogged by several days)
My current theory is this: they wait to give us the grades so that people who'd drop out pay next semester's tuition first.

Also, we definitely want to make sure to maximize the chances for people to innocently make a mistaken mark somewhere and completely fuck up somebody's grade.Sakura3210 wrote:The heck kind of backwardness is this?!? Re: 1L grade waiting thread
This actually happened to one section second semester last year. The professor effectively misbubbled and shifted something like 1/4 of the class' grades down one on his sheet relative to their exam number. He had to reenter them and all those peoples grades got changed. Did not go over well. Hopefully after that profs will check check and double check before submitting(although again that will take longer...)clintonius wrote:Also, we definitely want to make sure to maximize the chances for people to innocently make a mistaken mark somewhere and completely fuck up somebody's grade.Sakura3210 wrote:The heck kind of backwardness is this?!? Yeah, that might end up happening. About eight days out and I feel about the same. Long way to go, though. Hopefully the fact that I'm spending my break in a big city will lend itself towards easy distractions when I need them.dailygrind wrote:your last final ended pretty late though, right? my last one was on the 16th, and i wasn't really anxious about it at all for a few days. as time passes and i get closer and closer to seeing my grades, i get more and more anxious.Helmholtz wrote:Break is awesome. Zoning out to futurama, eating tons of savory and sweet homemade food, sleeping an obscene number of hours, drinking copious amounts of wine, vodka, brandy, bourbon, beer, etc., etc. Life feels good. I'm much less of a nutjob re: waiting for grades, than I expected.

I've done a better job than I thought I would. I haven't really thought about grades, and even thinking about them now won't make me anxious. I know, however, that once we get closer to when we're supposed to receive grades I'm going to freak out. For now, I'm going to enjoy my ski simulation in preparation for my ski trip next week.

Re: 1L grade waiting thread
I did not realize I was stressed about grades. I thought I was calm. Then this morning, I woke up from a scary dream where I got a 3.25 for my first semester. My dissapointment woke me at 8:30 am, and the very first thing I did after waking up was check grades (not out yet). I can't lie to myself anymore! I am very worried about grades.
This had to happen on New Years Eve. Another few days of fooling myself would have been nice.

My grade related nightmare last night was that I got a B- in Legal Research, a one unit class that's actually graded pass/fail.

At this point I'm so convinced that I've failed that a 3.25 would be a like gift from heaven.random5483 wrote:I did not realize I was stressed about grades. I thought I was calm.
