when do we get grades? second semester is starting soon!

Hi. Tomorrow will be my 5th day of classes and my grades don't come out until the 25th.

law school is a continuous waiting game.

And the last grade is reported.

A- in Legal Writing. I'll be honest, I'm a little annoyed about that. Luckily, it doesn't count towards GPA.

A- in contracts. I had no clue what was going on in this class all semester, probably bought every single supplement you could imagine for it. Pumped.

If you were anything like my buying habits, half the supplements were a waste of money. Hornbooks? What was I thinking?

Got the rest of my grades. A- in Property and A+ in Crim. Totally surprised and elated. Glad my predictions were wrong!

GPA: 3.89 (1L curve here is 3.2)

I'm extremely happy with it!

I think most people overthink LRW.

i definitely do this. and practically IRL this is probably not normal. but theoretically the issues /can/ get complex and mind-boggling, at least imo.

Cy, we get grades on monday, right? Why have people been saying friday?

I think last year they said Monday, but actually released them on Friday. I'm probably not going to check until we get back to Ithaca, but in case my curiosity gets the better of me, where do I look? Blackboard?

With a 3.57? You guys have to be higher than that. 3.62 is top 10% at my school I think (curving to 3.25).

A 2L told me that the cutoff for top third is usually 3.4ish, but UIUC only ranks the top 10% and then publishes the cutoff for top third.

Do they rank every semester? When should we get those?

And yeah, the numbers I've heard for those of us at Illinois have been:

Median: 3.2

Top 1/3rd: 3.4

Top 10%: 3.7
