Re: 1L Exam Prep and Motivation Thread
T minus 18 hours until my 1st exam, and I still don't know how to feel. I mean, though all the practice tests, I always hit the points of analysis I want to make (though not always quite as organized as I would like). Yet I almost always have different factual interpretations than others which lead to wildly varying conclusions. I feel like I know quite a bit and have a solid grasp of everything. I also feel like I know no more than anybody else so that no matter what I write, it can't possibly be anything to push me ahead of the curve. Thats the most disheartening part of it all.

Weird question, maybe: I was talking to a 2L the other day that was telling me about how she just had fun on her Civ Pro exam and made a bunch of puns on it. I was curious- has/does anyone else write in puns on their exam?

I know someone who wrote their final in French because the professor was from France

My Civ Pro prof told us a story about a girl who got an A+ who organized her paragraphs with song titles from a musical the professors daugther was in.BriaTharen wrote:Weird question, maybe: I was talking to a 2L the other day that was telling me about how she just had fun on her Civ Pro exam and made a bunch of puns on it. He said he thought it was cute, but warned, if she didn't absolutely nail the analysis it wouldn't have been so cute and he would have been harsh.
Wasting time trying to be cute is a horrific idea.

Certain professors do also hate it when people try to be cute. My Ks professor spent about 5 mins in class one day telling us how much he hated judges that tried to write "cute" opinions-- like a textile case where the judge said things like "the common thread running through," "unruffled," etc. I wouldn't dare pull puns or anything on his exam.

That's what I meant by opinions. Scalia only writes dissents...unless SCOTUS is trying to take rights away, then he's all over that shit.BriaTharen wrote: I prefer his dissents where he mocks the majority

Quick 1331 Diversity Question
Let's say plaintiffs are: CA and WA
Defendants are: CA, TX, and JAPAN
does this fall under 1331(a)(3), allowing federal diversity for the case?

Isn't it 1332? And every plaintiff has to be from a different state than every defendant.uwb09 wrote:Quick 1331 Diversity Question
