If you thought the exam was hard, and you think you did a good job explaining in your answer why it was hard, then you probably did well.

Here's a studying tip that helped me during 1L year: go through your outline and for each item on the outline, try to come up with a scenario where the issue on your outline would be implicated. In other words, write a question/fact pattern for each item in your outline. Then make sure you can answer the question. It helps get you in the mind of the professor, and its a good way to make sure you understand how the legal issues relate to different fact patterns. This study method also has the benefit of being methodical and comprehensive, and it is guaranteed to alert you to any concepts you think you know but it turns out you don't really know. Its more efficient than random practice tests that only touch on 4-5 issues.

I think the notion that the grades are inversely related is horse shit.

Note - I'm a 1L.

My grades were inversely related.

Note: this does not mean that you shouldn't study so as to maximize the chances that you feel like you bombed it.

I didn't mean to imply that is never the case for people. I just don't believe more times than not grades are inversely related.

I hit all the issues. I compared these issues with a few people. I hit those issues and even more. So I don't know.

I want to hate it. I want to hate my professor. I want to rage at all the time wasted in that class when I could have been saving baby seals or playing video games. But I just may have learned more in that class than all my other ones combined, and it has definitely altered my day-to-day thought process the most. I found myself frowning at the ambiguous language in the split checks/alcohol/large party mandatory gratuity disclaimers on the menu where I ate lunch today. My brain is broken.

I think my hate stems from the pretty ass-backwards way of how the professor teaches as opposed to the material itself. Now I'm just getting frustrated, because it seems like most hypos, practice problems, CALI exercises, etc. are counter-productive when considering that most of the disputes with the answers begin and end with "I can see how this is correct, but the prof said [insert completely contrary answer]" or "Great, the model answer didn't even bring up something our prof would want us to go for pages on about". Our prof seemingly hates the concept of hope, so he never gave practice problems or exams outside of a couple bar exam hypos that he was for the most part pretty vague about (in case point, "What doctrines in Contract Law are risk sharing?" Answer: EVERYTHING), and refuses to answer any kind of question related to Contract Law in general.

Final draft of my CivPro outline - 13 pages

I have a "full outline" to back it up, which runs around 30-35 pages - but in theory I shouldn't have to consult it because I boiled down everything down in a way thats both comprehensive and concise.
