Comparing to undergrads:

Much less social and much more socially awkward than people at a big state school.

Probably slightly more social and less socially awkward than people at a top Ivy or equivalent.

Pretty much what JG Hall was trying to say.

It's 1L, ITE. It's probably the only time the universe will deign it completely socially acceptable to be completely asocial. Enjoy it while it lasts.

I think its pretty naive to think that law students at t14 schools are NOT more socially awkward than the common UG folk. Generally speaking, law students have much more to lose then traditional UG students.

I have no idea about T4s. People who shouldn't be in law school are... irrelevant? But comparing Yale, to say, Brooklyn, and CLS to say, UK – there are marked differences.

And where you went to undergrad definitely has an impact on how you perceive the sociability of your law school classmates. People who went to UChicago for undergrad don't think the people at CLS are as weird as say... people who went to UT.

(I also believe public schools are, on the whole, more attractive and social than *most* private schools, even on the law school level. Only intuition, though.)

Good thing you're here to tell us who shouldn't be in law school and who should be.. Which brings us to the next logical point; many people in law school are dick-heads. Example A: JG Hall.

People are a lot more normal at my law school than undergrad, but that also makes them less interesting. With a few exceptions, most people aren't awkward, and are pretty nice. I'd say the real difference is that it sometimes it seems like they took every douche you knew from undergrad and put them into one class.

WUSTL is fairly fratty. If you wanted nerdcore/'interesting' people T14 was the way to go... gaming the rankings means drawing heavily on slackers and underachievers, which draws to fratstarsbros.

Edited for accuracy. Also note that I fully support the 'bro' lifestyle.

It seems to me, very generally speaking, the most socially awkward ones are the people from prestigious LAC's and the people that are more social are the people from good, but not great, large schools (e.g. Berkeley, UVA, NYU, etc.). Like I said, this is very general, and some of the coolest people I've met so far have been a part of the Swarthmore/Amherst/Williams crowd.

I think I can provide some perspective here.

t4 to t10 transfer and went to a gigantic very fun state school UG.

To address the most pressing matter, My t4 had hotter girls than the t10 but neither is anything to shake a stick at or like my UG, not even close on the best day. That being said there are definitely some diamonds in the rough and nobody should be going into law school in any tier expecting to find babes. If you want to find hot girls head to a large state school and find the communications department.

The students as a whole are the same level of "socially awkward." Law school just attracts book worms and nerdy people, it's a fact. I don't pretend to not be a nerd but it is obvious at times that my college experience was a little "rowdier" than the average law student. I have genuinely liked most people I have met at both schools and outside of school they are usually fun. It is what you make of it and I have loved law school so far.

I feel like t10 law schools are a lot of people who maybe used to be awkward (in middle/high school?) but have spent so much time being ridiculously high-achieving that they have now learned to fake it, what with their schmoozing with clients in ridiculous jobs before law school, etc.
