3 + LRW here too. People who took summer only have 2 + LRW this semester.

Yeah we have 4 classes (3 aren't bad but CivPro being condensed into 1 semester is pretty crazy) + Graded LRW...

I want to punch people who ask question like "what if it was a spacecraft that hit A instead of a car?" I also want to punch people who throw in "well in my undergrad economics class..."

I guess I just want to punch a lot of people.

I have 4 +LRW but one is called Elements and is unique to UChicago. Also only have 2 exams in December. We are on the quarter system so actually this only my second week of school.

My impression is one of pain and saddness - with a touch of mint.

Elements sounds fun. One of the things that made me sad about choosing NYU over Chi was that I never get to take Elements.

I couldn't imagine taking 5 blackletter + graded LRW. 4 BLL + LRW (quasi-graded) is already quite the load.

My Torts prof, who is a visiting prof, reminds us periodically of what he wants to see on the exam. He constantly teaches us how to provide an A quality answer. That's real nice of him to tighten the curve in torts class for us.

No kidding -- in torts of all classes, too. I'll take my TLS/LEEWS/GTM informed advantage into finals without the teacher letting everyone in class know about it. Two of my three BLL professors this fall have their exams up on the school exam bank for everyone to see -- yet it's surprising how few have actually looked at them at this point.

IMO, law school's about figuring it out for yourself and not having people hold your hand along the way.

One of my BLL tutors gave us a very good hypo. I expected everyone to do it, which made me nervous. After hearing chatter around the carrels, i'd say 30% of the section actually attempted a thoughtful AND timed response (sorry, but it doesn't count if you outline it first, then type it out for four hours with your friends).

Moral of the story: People are lazy, the universe has a way of correcting itself.

PS: Proximate cause makes me feel very uneasy.

word limits are awful.

Analyzing a proximate cause products liability case in 1000 words is an exercise in frustration.

"There are no more barriers to cross. All I have in common with the uncontrollable and the insane, the vicious and the evil, all the mayhem I have caused and my utter indifference toward it I have now surpassed. My pain is constant and sharp and I do not hope for a better world for anyone, in fact I want my pain to be inflicted on others. I want no one to escape, but even after admitting this there is no catharsis, my punishment continues to elude me and I gain no deeper knowledge of myself; no new knowledge can be extracted from my telling. This confession has meant nothing."

My thoughts so far. . . . . . . . . . "this [shit] is very do-able!" Just figure out what the professor wants, fortunately our professors remind us damn near every class session. I'm learning to write exactly the way my professor wants and it seems to be working out very well for me.

I just can't stand people who type notes stealthily on IPads + mini keyboards hidden behind textbooks in classes where laptops/computer are prohibited. If that were me, I would feel so guilty knowing I'm getting away with something while my peers have to handwrite everything...

LRW is now done, and it feels oh so good. Finally time to relax (before starting outlines).

I have a Legal Research final/midterm tomorrow. It's only a 1 credit class for the whole year, and this exam is worth 35% of my grade. It's freakin' legal research. All it is is memorizing trivia about different sources, and the course is curved just like the rest of them. Isn't this stuff normally pass/fail at most schools? I could be doing my property outline. I went to law school because I don't like memorizing and vomiting out trivia.

This material is so boring...it's making me think about offing myself.

in the classes i've had where laptops were banned, i don't think this would be particularly advantageous. nonetheless i would be pretty fuckin pissed if i saw someone doing that.

This kinda stuff bothers me.

No honor code where you're at?
