Westlaw point accrual

Post by jdubb990 » Fri Aug 20, 2010 9:39 am

I am using Westlaw for searches pretty much every day, but I don't see my points accruing for that, they are simply adding 10 points for each of my log-on's. Do the points for searches get added at the end of the week or what? There's some luggage I already have my eye on in the points catalog. :D

I haven't signed up for Lexis yet. Is a better "bang for your points" and is it easier to accrue points on it?

I think Lexis is better for points. I got 400 points for registering, and 400 for taking the "Get Ahead in Law School" tutorial or whatever, that showed some of the basic functions of Lexis (like Shepard's, etc.).
I signed into Westlaw this morning (for the 3rd time) and found I still only have 20 points... Any advice on that one, or do I just need to wait til the end of the day? I even did a random search and still only have 20 points.

you don't get points for every search, you get points for every day that you perform at least one search. think about it, if you got points for every search, people would just abuse it like crazy.

on lexis you normally get 15 points/day that you do a search, but last year they had a month of double points (I think it was October) and I was able to rack up a ton. Also, do the online tutorial thingys as often as possible. I got a $50 visa card by mid-year.

I think its around 30 thousand for the IPAD. This is an easy way to make some extra cash though, earn points, get stuff on Westlaw/Lexis and sell it for $. :)

Plan on doing some webinars. 10 points per day for three years is less than 11k points.

How many of the 10-minute exercises do you need to do to get points? I did one the other day and didn't get anything. It's been two or three days since I did it.
