What class was it in and was it still over median?

it was a B+ (3.3) on a 3.0 curve in an elective filled with 2Ls and 3Ls

really still kinda surprised cause i thought i killed that test. i do concede i kinda screwed up one question, but i didnt think i missed that much, esp since i decided to do an elective extra writing assignment that made the exam only worth 80% of the grade.

thankfully it's only a 3 credit course and most of ours are 4 credits, so i can still maintain top 5% as long as i didnt bomb any other classes, which i likely did.

what sucks is i wont know any other grades for another month.

Not be an ass, but I don't see how a B+ is such a horrible grade. I have heard of people getting Ds in their classes, and THAT is something to be upset about. I don't understand how a B+ is such an awful thing.

it's not an awful thing, thus why im not sitting here melting down.

however, im at a lower T2 and i wanted to try to transfer into one of MVBP with a shot at CCN. For a shot at CCN I needed to not get less than an A-, and I just did, so that's out the window. As long as I can get A-s or higher in my other classes, I should still be fine for a shot at MVBP and, at a minimum, a good showing at GULC OCI next year.

I'm not a transfer expert, but I think you should still try to apply. You wouldn't have anything to lose, except the application fee, and just like the first round of applications - it beats always wondering "what if." I think one B+ in a sea of As is not going to hurt you. I say go for it.

The not knowing any other grades for a month thing does suck. That's good to hear that it's still above median, I expected as much.

tbh not sure how i got a B+ in this course lol. i must have missed something on exam day. there were a lot of mitigating circumstances (serious biz IRL stuff) surrounding my exams this year which were constantly on my mind during study time and exam time, and i wont be surprised if that had an impact on my performance. they are circumstances which are easily verifiable and addendum-worthy on an app, but i dont want to seem like im making excuses. sometimes i think it's better to just go with what the #s say even if you do have what seems to be a valid excuse (and i do think mine would count as valid).

edit - also i really feel like (and ive posted this before i even got any grades so im not hedging) georgetown is where i belong, so maybe that's just the good Lord's way of reinforcing that calling in me.

Yeah, you basically get to watch the grades come in perfectly relaxed knowing you have GULC under your belt. 8)

FWIW, I know a girl who got a below median grade 2nd semester, lowest ever, and overall GPA remained almost identical (better in some classes, worse in one) at the top 4%ish range.

Anecdote, statistic, bla bla bla. Just saying, the occasional bad grade happens to the best students.

This will be a function of how many grades you have, and how far below median that grade is (obviously). I will have five grades by OCI. (Technically seven substantive classes, but my situation is unusual.) One slip up and I could be in a lot of trouble. I know I did badly in property, so I am just praying it wasn't badly enough that there will be no hope of recovery. Those of you with nine or ten grades are in a much safer position than I am.

Yes, this is one of the few big draw backs of PT LS, your bascilly a sesmter to 1.5 semsters behind the FT students in grades.

Yeah I have like 10+ grades so one grade that is still above median isn't going to kill me. I'm just hoping it's a factor of luck more than anything else.

Pray for me, now and at the hour at which I lose all hope of employment. I actually have one last option; I can remain part time and take a year to undo the damage, depending on the harm done. I'll have to see what happens when grades come back. As for your situation, I have perfect faith that you'll be able to get CCN if you want it.

tbh I'm pretty tempted to just commit myself to GULC now (seriously not a result of one only "ok" grade)

it's where ive always wanted to be. why not just say screw it and settle on there?

I wasn't expecting to be paid anyways, people don't go to law school to obtain gainful employment, they go for the enriching intellectual experience and camaraderie that they develop with fellow students...

Jesus Christ when did this thread turn into, "omg I got a B+ and now might only get to transfer into GULC"

Let's hear from the people who dropped 10-50% in class rank, lost scholarships, etc.
