Do you think with a solid 2.8 from John Marshall as a 1L I could get a decent Federal judicial internship? I mean, how hard could they be to land these days?

You're probably good to go. I don't think they've even started hiring yet for the most part.

I think I'll just waltz into Posner's office and demand a position.

Depends on the judge. Judge Avern Cohn took Cooley students. Judge David McKeague would only take top of the class folks (but never Cooley).

Its not like you are an actual law clerk. Some judges want you to work. Others want you to experience things. Depends on the judge, and also on the courthouse. Just try, see what happens. And, really, ANY federal judge internship will look great on a resume, especially if its with a judge in the market you intend to work in.

Oh, but I would do it NOW, at least for summer positions. And don't forget about magistrate judges too.
