used to hate them, now I buy them by the box at costco, nothing like homemade coffee + clif bar to get you through morning property

So I was reading through this thread hoping for some good advice. Turns out I already know to wear pantyhose in professional settings as any professional woman knows to do; I know that my laptop ought to be working; and I know where to buy myself highlighters.

Please tell me that the debate over navy vs. charcoal vs. black was conceived out of boredom. What matters in a job interview is what's on your resume, your charisma to some extent, and that you are profesionally dressed. I don't want to work for anyone who dismisses me off hand because my suit conveys "power." What should it convey? "I'll crawl on the ground for this job?"

So please add to the list of necessities: confidence.

Just don't try to get through airport security with a laptop in a backpack. They'll make you check it... no kidding. Backpacks are no longer considered carryon material, at least in SFO/SJC/LAX.
Really?? Wow. How is a backpack more unsafe than a normal bag?
If you carry on your backpack with a laptop in it, the laptop has to have it's own separate section, and there can be nothing in there with it (including cords, fans, etc). I had my laptop sleeve in my backpack and took it out and they still made me take my laptop out because the cords were in with it.
What are we talking about here? At my local airport you ALWAYS have to take your laptop out of your carry on. Even if you have it in a lap top case, brief case, suitcase, or a backpack. It has been like this for the last 2-3 years. They run it through the x-ray by itself and give it back to you immediately.

In fact, they don't even have to know what bag the laptop is in because you're supposed to remove it from the bag prior to having your carry-on x-rayed.

I'm surprised at how much a little discussion about men's suit colors rubbed you the wrong way. Nothing wrong with wanting to dress for success.

I need to get a good pair of noise cancelling headphones for next year. Does anyone have any recommendations? I'd like to keep it around 40 or 50 bucks or less and I guess I would probably want Earbuds rather than big headphones. Anyone have any suggestions?
