-Mixon: Oh Mixon, where to begin. His tests are nearly impossible to study for, yet they're almost identical in nature. He DOES give you all of his exams, but it is still hard. I struggled the most in this class preparing for the final. Your exam will be 40-50 MC with 1-2 essays. The essays WILL be major topics you cover in class. I knew beforehand what ours likely were going to be and I guessed correctly. That being said, the essays were still very very difficult. I read the first one and literally didn't know what to write. I hate his teaching style, I hate his drawings and I felt like the book was absolute garbage. Finally, you cannot use your laptop or any electronic device. If you're caught with an electronic device, he deducts 5 points off of your final. Our section gave him scathing reviews, we had two students walk out of his class because of remarks he made towards them, and we even got the dean involved to help alleviate the situation. He was supposed to retire this year but I guess he's sticking around for longer. Hopefully K's is better for y'all.
Bustang,

I am sorry to hear you had such a difficult time with Mixon. I have spoken to three recent grads who all had Mixon and absolutely loved him, although one did comment that he was a bit hard to follow at times. I certainly hope this doesn’t indicate a shift in his attitude towards his students…

Also, Tamecia stated (in the Admitted Students Facebook group) that Mixon and Duncan don’t allow laptops. That means no electronic devices for Torts and half of Contracts (assuming that Dow hasn’t taken over teaching the class both days) for Section A. Should be interesting!

She also said that Mixon won't be teaching, it will be Dow. There was a last minute change, hence why both of their names are on the schedules.

Like Bustang said, Sanders is pretty cool but Crump is a dick. Good luck to those of you unfortunate enough to have to deal with him.

For those of you that already have your peoplesoft number, you may be able to log in to the online professor evaluations for UH. The link is https://mec.uh.edu/law/.

Below are links to the online reviews for the professors for Civil Procedure, Contracts, and Torts for your 1L classes. If your prof isn't listed, it's because they didn't teach that subject last fall. I'll consider doing the LRW professors after I take the bar. Good luck!

If you're in Chase's contract class, you will need whatever supplement necessary to teach yourself contract law. Our test covered Contract law 101 A-Z, and we learned, A-D, F-J, then Z.

paying through my nose in rent. are there any decent 1/1's near UH? it was either a crappier apartment at 950/m vs. the nicer one down the street at 1050... so rough.

That's awesome Josh; thank you so much for putting those together. Is there any way you could pull reports for Morris (LRW), Bruhl, and Dow from one of their classes (after you are done with the bar and have time)? I know it isn't necessarily indicative of what we are going to see for our 1L classes, but I am curious to see what their reviews/grade distributions look like in general.

Good luck to you on the bar! Hope you have a relaxing bar trip planned...

Nope, sorry about that Brose. I was looking at the evaluations posted by Josh and grade distributions (available at myedu.com) while I was typing the request and crossed wires.

I'm still working during the day, but I'll try to do this in the next day or two and post them here.

Unfortunately, several professors did not have distributions in the myedu.com database (I originally looked at Section A only) but I'll post what I found below. According to the website, grade distributions are for the previous year [for each professor] teaching that particular class; Cumulative GPA is for all times [for each professor] teaching the class. They also had grade distributions over time, but judging by the data sets the school has adjusted the curve so I wasn't sure the data was very useful. Keep in mind, I can't confirm how they gather their metrics so take this assessment with that in mind. Cheers!

Section A
Morris - No data available
Bruhl (Civ Pro) - 22% A, 62% B, 14% C, 2% W - Overall GPA 3.02
Dow (Contracts) - 16% A, 81% B, 3% C - Overall GPA 3.14
Duncan (Torts) - 17% A, 69 % B, 9% C, 6% W - Overall GPA 2.91

Section B
Morris - No data available
Crump (Civ Pro) - 27% A, 56% B, 14 % C, 3% W - Overall GPA 3.04
Bush - No data available
Sanders (Torts) - 19% A, 70% B, 10% C - Overall GPA 3.09

Section C
Twomey - No data available
Gidi - 22% A, 61% B, 16% C - Overall GPA 3.06
Hawkins (Contracts) - 20% A, 69% B, 11% C - Overall GPA 3.09
Mantel (Torts) - No data available
