Does anyone know if sections are created randomly, or is it a more ordered process of balancing incoming GPAs and LSATs?

I've heard (on TLS) that there's no gpa/lsat stacking in sections.. & that ppl are generally intermixed in regards to their #s.YankeesFan wrote:Does anyone know if sections are created randomly, or is it a more ordered process of balancing incoming GPAs and LSATs?
I'll try to find the post that i read that in... I'll edit w a link when I find it.

Yep. They definitely don't "stack" sections with regards to scholarships. I would agree that the ASD guide was probably right though. I don't necessarily think sections are created with regards for "smart," "stupid," or "party" students, but they do claim to consider background, admission numbers, interests, etc. when creating the sections. This can definitely result in a "smart" section and a "stupid/lazy" section, but the intention doesn't seem to be to "stack" students.jdemmitt wrote:Piratecapn said that in the ask a wf student thread.

this is probably a dumb question, but is the grading curve set by section, or by the class as a whole??PirateCap'n wrote:Yep. They definitely don't "stack" sections with regards to scholarships. Girl, I believe it is by section. That is what others have indicated.
Also, I don't know if I can do trivia! Trivia is on Thursday, if I recall correctly, which is when asp is! Oh noes.

Asp is a student study group on thursdays for students who may have difficulty (married or dyslexic students) to help them study. We were talking about it in the other thread.

The curve is set by section. It's an 85 for every 1L class. Upper-level classes can get off the curve if the professor has a good reason or if it's a course taught by a full-time faculty member, has 20 or fewer people, and requires a paper at the end.girlonfire wrote:this is probably a dumb question, but is the grading curve set by section, or by the class as a whole??PirateCap'n wrote:Yep.
