Anywhere between a few days later and the end of January.

Can anyone offer any additional insight on Silverberg's ADR exam? Apart from the info he gives that it's a bajillion pages long, all multiple-choice, and based half off the books...

Also, does anyone know if it's curved? I'm having a hard time figuring out how anyone could get a C or D on such a seemingly straight-forward exam...

Are all semester grades released together or will the LRWA grades come back earlier?

All of your 1L grades are released together.

And what a day it will be. There will be drinking. Whether it's sad or happy drinking has yet to be determined.

As an FYI, they came out on January 20 last year after 5:30pm. If for some reason you don't hear which day they will be released, you'll receive an e-mail from the registrar when the grades are posted.

Unfortunately, it's really painful to wait that long.

Yeah. I think the last few years they've been released after 5:00 pm on a Friday.

They release them at close of business on Friday so you can't call and bother them about the grades. They also wait longer than virtually any other school.

Of course, they stepped up their admissions timeline, so who know this year? They seem to be going crazy.

Just keep checking. I would expect to see some before Christmas, if not all.

Some professors send an email. If you had Kahn for anything, he'll send a very detailed email about the final, the grade breakdown, everything.

Confirming about Kahn's emails. He sent one last year for Con Law and it was pretty much the most responsible and informative thing I've ever gotten from an SMU employee

Fun fact: the dean couldn't be bothered to show up for Saturday's graduation ceremony.

At least you didn't have to listen to a speech how we're just as good as Harvard.

Does anyone have textbooks for: Advanced Legal Research, Federal Courts, Texas Rangers Bankruptcy, Advanced Bankruptcy, or Employment and Labor Arbitration?

Texas Rangers doesn't have a book, Nelms just emails you the readings. Such a great class.

Advanced Bk -- Unless you are graduating in '13 I'd recommend waiting and taking this with Judge Lynn in the Fall. It's an hour more of credit, a better learning experience, and a much easier grade from what I understand. I took it with Esserman/Parsons and it was painful. Plus for a small class they were not terribly generous with the grades on a closed book exam.

Does anyone have an opinion on ADR with Stahl? Or Family Law with Thomas? Or International Commercial Arbitration? Thanks

ADR is easy. Family Law is good if you're interested in it; I think Thomas is a judge and I've heard good things about her. No idea on the other one.

A better learning experience? Is that what I should have been looking for?

Thomas is great for Family Law. She has a very matter-of-fact teaching style and is very engaging in class. Just remember that in every one of her fact patterns be sure to note "Best interest of the child."

For those considering it, definitely take Hanna for Income Tax. Be sure to go over his practice exams. Not sure if he still does this, but there were a couple of questions on the exam that were verbatim from the practice exam. Also, he likes to reward people that attend his classes and will ask a question or two about class discussions (i.e. what was the name of the celebrity with the tax problems we talked about in class). I normally use a laptop on my exams, but I handwrote this exam just because of the calculations you have to do. Showing your work is very important as you won't get the same numerical answer as Hanna.

Kahn is also a great one both in the classroom as well as his exam.

I recommend Forrester and taking her real estate classes if you have an interest in that.

Lowe is great for oil & gas and he really helps you especially when you are prepping for the bar exam.

Forrester is an awful person. She ranks just behind Cashen in terms of professors I won't even acknowledge exist.
