Definitely Barbri. Kaplan seems to be an up and comer though.TannerRobinson wrote:PMBR, ABA, DBA, Kaplan, Barbri
Are any of these worth the money???
I am bored in the library. Please regale us with this tale.kalvano wrote:Someone school me on the 1L's versus Palacios.
Apparently someone had a bout with their conscience and approached her to tell her that one or more students were writing down the review questions she gives us at the beginning of the class verbatim, and (apparently) circulating them to the other 1Ls. She kiiiiind of ripped our entire section a new one (she's very very VERY disappointed in us and our integrity), and then told us that she's either going to have to write 200 new questions that don't cover what was covered in the questions she HAD given us, or give us the, and I quote, "essay exam from hell."fathergoose wrote:I am bored in the library. A. I find it odd that she would have problem with someone taking notes in class. If she didn't want you have the questions she shouldn't have said them. I bet she doesn't actually care except that since the student reported it, she has to rewrite all of them or students will raise hell.swilson215 wrote:Apparently someone had a bout with their conscience and approached her to tell her that one or more students were writing down the review questions she gives us at the beginning of the class verbatim, and (apparently) circulating them to the other 1Ls. The funny thing is that in 2008 we had the highest in the state at 94% and then last year we were down to 83% and now this year we are back up to almostebo wrote:July 2011 bar passage rates are out by school, and it doesn't look good for SMU- only Texas Southern and St. Mary's had worse passage rates than SMU for first timers. Yeah, you read that right. TTTs Texas Wesleyan, South Texas, and Tech all had better rates than SMU.

All of these stupid LRWA classes won't do shit for us if we can't pass the bar in 3 years!

How is he going to spin this?kalvano wrote:Attanasio sucks as a dean?fathergoose wrote:I really wonder how it can vacillate so wildly
But he was also our dean when we had the best % in Texas.kalvano wrote:Attanasio sucks as a dean?fathergoose wrote:I really wonder how it can vacillate so wildly
This absolutely happened last year.kalvano wrote:Quick tip - if the memo (and/or brief) due date is on a class day, don't skip class. Our brief was due on a Tuesday, and sooooo many people missed class, which pissed off the professors and material from that class was absolutely on the exam.
Maybe divert testdrive funds to Barbri subsidies. He's pretty innovative when it comes to spending money to make the school look better.ebo wrote:How is he going to spin this?kalvano wrote:Attanasio sucks as a dean?fathergoose wrote:I really wonder how it can vacillate so wildly
Very curious about thisHBK wrote:I think it would be interesting to see the breakdown of P/F rates between evening students and day students.
My far-fetched theory is that people had more motivation...we also had an extremely high number of people with offers waiting for them, which creates a pretty big incentive to pass. I know that, in theory, there should be more motivation if you need to get a job, but I think people are just tired after 3 years of school and job hunting and not finding one, and they just sort of give up.fathergoose wrote:But he was also our dean when we had the best % in Texas.kalvano wrote:Attanasio sucks as a dean?fathergoose wrote:I really wonder how it can vacillate so wildly
I get what you're saying, and in the absence of comparative figures 86% doesn't sound terrible. But when you're getting beat by Tech, STCL, and f-ing Wesleyan, I think it reflects poorly on the school.chrisokc wrote:I don't understand the concern over the bar passage rates. Roughly 9/10 people pass on the first time. I can't imagine it's going to be too tough to hit the 13th percentile.
Haha. Seconded.chrisokc wrote:I keep forgetting to post this question here in the 1L thread, but which one of you turds is driving that Audi R8 with Mexican plates I see parked in the law garage this semester? I'm going to steal that thing and pay off my loans.
There are a lot of 911s parked out there too, but that's nothing new. That R8 stands out.HBK wrote:Haha. What's the story? Retired hedge fund manager or trust fund?
Shit, you could sell that car and buy a house.
