I went to a Social Security Administration hearing today.

Judge: "It says here that you used to do speed. Why did you stop?"

Our client: "I don't know, I mean I don't have any money. I still would if someone around happened to have some. It's not that I don't like using it."

If anyone is looking for a roommate, give me a shout. I plan on moving up there late July/August but I can adjust. Going to start making trips up to look at places soon. Probably looking at either Uptown or the villages (cause I'm rolling all stereotypical like that). So let me know! See everyone in a few months

I haven't done anything since paying my deposit and filing my fafsa. I have no idea what I should be doing next.

Log on to the Grad Plus loans site and fill out the application for that, and let them run the credit check. It will walk you through it.

That's all you need to do. You'll get an email when they post up financial aid and you can accept the awards, or modify the amount. The FAFSA is like an all-encompassing application.

I used to work in bankruptcy. Once during a client intake meeting I asked what she had done with the $97k she withdrew from her ROTH IRA account less than a year earlier. Her answer: "well, I used to do a lot of blow."

Ummmm, $97k in a year!? Some people are insane.

When do we find out our section and class schedule for the fall? Also, has anyone gotten any info about student loan stuff from SMU?

I checked access.smu.edu today. if you go to the "FA Pony Tracks" section, it'll tell you where you are in the process. Mine says financial aid under review or something like that. Sounds pretty par for the course for SMU's "laid back" style. See the C/O SMU 2013/2014 thread to see what I mean.

Ok, maybe I'm a moron, but where do you find "FA Pony Tracks" in Access?

So it says they rec'd my FAFSA, but the steps after that say, "No Information Available." I did fill out the GradPlus site, so hopefully that'll go through pretty quickly. I know it's gonna be a shit load, I'd just like to know the exact amount I owe. :?

Yeah. At first I got pretty excited when it said "check back after June 15 for more information on when your decision will be available," but now it's the 22nd, and still no decision in sight.

Did anyone check out the property right across the street from the law school on Daniel? Anyone have any thoughts to share? Moving from 1200 miles away has its drawbacks...

There are tons of rentals on the streets running parallel to and north of Daniel on both the east and west sides of Hillcrest. There are one- and two-bedroom apartments ranging from $900 to $1,500 and condos going all the way up to $4,000 per month. There are a lot of "for rent" signs up now. The area is crime free and a short walk to school. I live in the area now and love it.

Good to know...not too undergrad-y? I'm looking at signing a lease for a 1 bedroom + den on Daniel and it seems like a pretty ideal set up!

Seriously? What are you waiting for?
