I have withdrawn from most of my schools.

I waited until I paid my seat deposit (Sunday), before withdrawing at my other schools. I figured since I had scholarship offers at some of them, I probably owed them an email re: withdrawing... plus, that way, at least I had some official closure. The thing is, I'm still getting financial aid packets from schools I've withdrawn from... guess news between departments doesn't travel fast...

I've officially withdrawn from W&M, W&L, Wake, and Maryland. I haven't withdrawn from ND simply because you have to print out and mail a form.

I withdrew from the waitlist at WUSTL.

It felt weird at first knowing that I won't have those options anymore, but then I just thought about how satisfied I am going to UNC!

For people without scholly (yet) who have paid their deposits, are you paying only the first deposit? Or both 1st and 2nd? I am trying to decide what effect paying both might have on our chances for scholly. On one hand, it could show UNC that we are committed to attending, so, we deserve some money. On the other, it could show that we are commited to attending, so, they don't need to give us $ to get us to attend. I guess the third option is that it would have absolutely no effect....Thoughts?

Prob no effect. The reason they spread it out is because not everyone has $350 just laying around in their bank account.

I paid both. They say they will extend more scholly offers after deposits are due, so I just went ahead and paid the $350 total. They have a pretty cheap deposit in my opinion! What about you guys--did you pay both?

I just paid one, I'll probably pay the other next week (after I get paid!). So when do they usually do the facebook group? Because I've been looking at apartments and it will be way less expensive to live with someone else...so i guess I'm in the looking for a roommate boat.

Also, HECK YES on the weather report!

The Facebook group doesn't start up until after the second deposit due date (yeah, I know.). But they're also doing this roommate referral service thing

https://admitted.law.unc.edu/preparing/default.aspx

I, however, will be scoping out potential roommates next Friday. (Yep, that makes me sound a tiny bit creepy. Oh well.)

It's a little early, but not creepy. You have to see people and talk to them in person to know if you can be roommates with them......I mean what if the roommate referral svc gives you an asshole of a roommate?

I only said it was creepy because of the word "scoping".. I imagined myself hiding in the bushes and checking people out with one of those submarine looker-around things.
^^ ^^ (<-- this is me scoping like a creeper from the best a keyboard can do at bushes)

The roommate referral service doesn't assign you a roommate. You send in a pretty basic form (do you smoke, are you willing to live with pets, etc.) and they send you emails with names of people whose forms are compatible with yours, and then you contact them on your own. That's how I understand it, anyway. I don't think it's early at all -- I feel like the longer we wait, the fewer places will be left that haven't already been leased. Not to mention that I won't be available to meet anyone from May 22 to June 28 except through Skype.
