Does the school reimburse your for travel costs for Spring Law Day? I'm flying from Los Angeles.
I went to the school's website, but couldn't find any info.

They should, I received an email like a week ago specifying a travel stipend was part of the scholarship award. The amounts they are throwing out are less then what it is actually going to cost me to fly out (I am in Phoenix), but it’s enough that I don’t have a problem forking out the difference.nelaw2010 wrote:Does the school reimburse your for travel costs for Spring Law Day? How many in this thread are going to Spring Law Day? Any good ideas for identifying fellow TLSers? I guess that’s assuming you want to be identified.

I'll be going and don't mind being identified. I suppose an easy way is for people to PM if they want to meet up with fellow TLSers and maybe share fb info?sab0tage wrote:They should, I received an email like a week ago specifying a travel stipend was part of the scholarship award. Im going and I think it'd be cool to meet some people while I'm there. I've definitely decided to go to IUB, I just haven officially confirmed my attendance or notified the other schools. It would be neat to meet some future classmates while Im there, because I dont know anyone in or anything about Indiana, or the rest of the Midwest for that matter. PM or FB is definitely the best option. Maybe we can go to a bar or a restaurant or something.

I'll be there - if more concrete plans get developed, let me know. I have a family friend in the area, so I'll probably hang out with her a bit too. As long as the two don't conflict!

I will also be there. I have no problem being identified.
Maybe we can get together Friday night at a bar or a restaurant.

I think that sounds like a great idea. I'll be there with my SO. I don't know anything about the area or anyone either. Shiawassee County, small area. I'm only about 40 minutes from Lansing or Flint or 1 1/2 hrs from Detroit. I will be glad to move ANYWHERE that has a population higher than 20,000beidoun wrote:Yes, I am from a suburb of Detroit. What area in Michigan are you from?cerulean87 wrote:Beidoun are you from MI? Haha yeah I do not blame you, I do not know how I would handle living in a town like that. I am glad to finally get out of Livonia, I have lived there all my life.cerulean87 wrote:Shiawassee County, small area. I'm only about 40 minutes from Lansing or Flint or 1 1/2 hrs from Detroit. A lot of trips to Detroit for food, the museums and the symphony actually haha. Except the DSO is driving me nuts this year with the strike. Same here, a born and raised situation. I am glad to stay in the midwest area with IU though. I love the outdoors here and Indiana seems very similar. Except Bloomington actually seems to offer a sense of culture

Downtown Detroit is underrated, I worked downtown for two years and I loved being downtown.
Livonia offers no culture or diversity, so it will be nice to experience some of that. I am a midwest person and would not want to move out of the area, so IU-B works great for me in that aspect.

I know! Everyone thinks its a run down crime spree. I LOVE Greektown. One of my favorite things to do is go down there and get a ton of food, wine etc. then hit up the bakery and a show or the casino. The Fox is still the best venue I've ever been to. I saw Buddy Guy and BB King there last year. It was awesome.
P.S. I PM'd you my info.

I was trying to bring someone with me, but my mom has to fly to FL and my sister simply does not want to go. I may try to snag a friend to travel with, but I'll most likely be on the solo. Im coming all the way from DC.cerulean87 wrote:I think that sounds like a great idea. I'll be there with my SO. I don't know anything about the area or anyone either. Oh yeah own room. With the SO sharing isn't an option though even if I was on my own I'm not comfortable sharing with a stranger either. I'm excited to see Bloomington and the campus though!cowgirl_bebop wrote:I was trying to bring someone with me, but my mom has to fly to FL and my sister simply does not want to go. Travel Info
Decent Hotels in Bloomington aren't cheap. I found a 3 star room on Hotwire for $101. It turned out to be the Hilton Garden Inn near campus.
I'm flying into Chicago, since flying into IND or Bloomington is either cost prohibitive or impossible.
You can rent a car for like 14 per day on Hotwire.
I'm flying from LA to Chicago for $350 RT on American.
Also, make sure to get ur hotel room early on. As the hotels see the rooms getting booked up, they will jack up the rates (the whole supply/demand capitalism thing).
PM me if u want more info.

Re: Indiana Bloomington - Class of 2014
It does sound like we have the makings of a TLS dinner on our hands here. If anybody wants my info, PM me I'd be happy to exchange. I should be buying my ticket today. The hotels close to campus aren't cheap, anybody got any suggestions? Seems like a major inconvenience to have a hotel at a distance from campus on such a short trip.
I am in that "95% sure I am going to attend" category. I got into my top choice with some money but IUB came out of left field with this crazy scholarship bonanza. This is not a bad situation to be in, though. I have a pretty strong feeling that I am going to get sold by my visit to campus.

Pm'd you. I haven't checked out hotels yet but since I'm driving down anyhow a short drive from the hotel shouldn't matter for me. More so for those who fly in though :/sab0tage wrote:It does sound like we have the makings of a TLS dinner on our hands here. If anybody wants my info, PM me I'd be happy to exchange. Re: Indiana Bloomington - Class of 2014
I've been to Bloomington once about a year and a half ago. I work for the men's basketball team here on campus and we traveled out there last season to get destroyed by the IU team. I honestly dont remember much about the town, but the campus seemed very nice (at least the part we saw). We spent most of our time in the hotel. I remember thinking that Bloomington was in the middle of nowhere, because the town seemed to just pop up out of the corn. And the team managers for IU kept telling us about some tornado and it kind of freaked me out, LOLcerulean87 wrote: Oh yeah own room. If you don't mind a 2 star hotel or something further from Campus, you can find a great deal. It seems like the hotels close to campus (3 star), are no less than $100 per night.sab0tage wrote:The hotels close to campus aren't cheap, anybody got any suggestions? Can't make it SLD. Just so happens that it coincides with another vacation my wife and I have been planning for a while. However, I did get a response back from Dani saying that they would pay for my travel expenses on another weekend if I scheduled a private visit. Has anyone done one of those? How long do they typically take and how structured is it?

I did one a while back. I met with an admissions officer for about 20 minutes and she answered any questions I had, then a current student took me on a tour of the law-school. After that, I sat in on a class, followed by a sit in with the admissions dean.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
Now there's a charge.
