I'm not...I visited DC about 3 weeks ago, so I think I'm ok.

Minuit, if you're looking for housing that allows dogs, I know that the complex I'm moving into is "pet friendly" (for the cost of "pet rent"). PM if you want more info on the place.

Was WL with a 3.7/165 PT, took the Feb test and bumped it up to a 167. Hopefully thats enough to get me in. Moved here to DC a month ago for work. Have a dog myself, live in SW in a pretty nice complex with my wife. It'd be nice if I got off the WL in time to go to an accepted students event, but am not planning on it. Love foggy bottom, also a medical condition will make it extra convenient the hospital is right by the metro stop for the school.

Interested in IP, so GW would be a great, although expensive fit.

mi-chan, I pmed you! Also, zreinhar, I think that the difference between your 165 and 167 is pretty significant. I hope you get off the waitlist! If you don't get in, do you think you'll go elsewhere or reapply next year?

Decided on GW at sticker. Crazy decision, I know, but DC is home and it was the best school I got into. For those on the fence, DC is awesome.

Since I'm in DC and already applied last cycle too I dont think I'll want to wait another year. Im in at GMU and Im also WL and GULC. I think the 167 gives me a great shot to get in to at least one of GW or Gtown. I'm basically going to mug them until they let me in using LOCIs, visits, speaking with professors, etc. The jump in value from GMU to GWU or GULC is very large (especially considering I'll be paying sticker for all of them) and I would prefer to be at GWU and given my numbers, I would really feel like I was settling at GMU. But if push comes to shove, thats what I have and I'll evaluate then, but I'm really planning on GWU or GULC

I am an international student from India joining the GWU class of 2014. I have a keen interest in IP and GWU reputation in IP program is a big motivation !!

Given that my knowledge of DC area is close to NIL, I would be grateful for any suggestions on affordable and decent housing in the DC area. I have a family (wife and 2 yr old kid) who will be eventually moving in with me (after 6-7 months). So some area which is family friendly will be an important prerequisite.

Also information on approximate rent (per month) and average commute time to law school would be most helpful.

Just sent off my deposit and accepted my financial aid package! I didn't get a chance to visit the school but I spoke to current students who really seemed to like the area. I went to DC when I was about 7 and don't remember much of it at all but I am really excited to move there. I am going to fly out in June and try to find a place for me, my partner and my dog.

So is there an intramural basketball team for GW law students?

You guys seen the latest LST stats?

--LinkRemoved--

What do you think...only 57.3% reporting is pretty terrifying. Should we assume that top 1/2 for a job? Or maybe its a DC thing? Georgetown has a pretty low % reporting rate as well...

I hate to burst your bubble, but as of last month, about 60% of the 3L's were unemployed. But keep in mind that many of them are unemployed because they rode the biglaw boat to the (titanic like) end. They entered lawschool when biglaw hiring was peaking, and they leave as its destroyed. A lot of them refused to give up on the dream, and have no job because of that. A lot of these people are near the top of the class, not in the bottom half. Much of the bottom half actually fared BETTER because they didn't even apply to biglaw positions.

So...yeah. If you want biglaw job, I wouldn't count on it. If you want a job, you'll almost surely get one.

No intramural team that I know of, but my friends ball at least once a week and usually twice. Get in touch with me when ya get here if you want to join.

Sounds good.

And btw, law students are allowed to use the regular gym open to all GW students, right? Are there usually a lot of people playing there?

On the note of sports/intramurals- is there any lacrosse presence up there, or am I better off leaving my gear behind?

Lacrosse is really big in the area- not quite sure about intramurals or club teams at GW, however. I'll definitely be taking advantage of the gym for basketball (DC is just about always too cold or too hot to play outside, and there are very few affordable indoor options) and I'd love to know if it's usually too crowded. At my UG it gets a little crowded. Sometimes you have to wait two games to get on during 4-7 peak hours.
