Important Notice Regarding Assignment to Sections and Book Lists for First-Year Students
In order to maximize the diversity of each first-year section, and to minimize the need to reassign students to other sections, first-year section assignments are not made until the class membership has been completely finalized, just before Orientation.
Because classes are organized by section, you accordingly will receive information regarding textbooks and first assignments at or shortly before Orientation.
Textbooks will be packaged by section at the GW Bookstore; in addition, the Student Bar Association will offer used textbooks for sale during Orientation.

Maybe we can get someone from the section we are assigned who goes through the bookstore to make copies of the first couple of readings? I would rather save the $$.justhockey31 wrote:+1000000 plus if you do that Amazon Prime deal you get free 2 day shipping so you might only miss the first day or 2 of readings.TheFutureLawyer wrote:+1. Driving with my parents from NY...I think I would prefer a red eye flight than 8 hrs in a car with him haha

I thought this is a better place to post about orientation stuff because the 1L-3Ls might not remember those details.
ND, about picking up student IDs - you could call the school and ask.

According to a university website, the GWorld card is the official student id, so I guess that's easyschooner wrote:I thought this is a better place to post about orientation stuff because the 1L-3Ls might not remember those details.

I thought I read somewhere that we don't get our photos taken for class seating charts during orientation week, but that might be totally separate from student ID cards. Either way, I guess I should go get a haircut.Naked Dude wrote:According to a university website, the GWorld card is the official student id, so I guess that's easyschooner wrote:I thought this is a better place to post about orientation stuff because the 1L-3Ls might not remember those details.

I guess 14? I see three of my classes end in -14 in the GW Law portal. Only one has the syllabus up (torts). Meets 4 times a week for 55 min, I didn't realize there was that much class time for law school (though maybe my UG just didn't meet up that much at 2.5 hrs / week).law4vus wrote:What section is everyone in? 13 for me

I'm in section 12. And just bought books using Amazon Prime yesterday. SO helpful & much cheaper than the bookstore.

The professors I got have almost no bad reviews on ratemyprof, 3/4 of them being from HYS, 1 having clerked for Ginsburg. Pretty happy about this.

Raven-Hansen. Having trouble finding a used casebook. 12 is pretty good. Don't mind waking up early if it means being done early. And my classes per day (excluding LRW, when do we find that out?) go 3-3-3-2-1 through the week. Not bad.queenlizzie13 wrote:I have Clark for Civ Pro. Who do you have?Naked Dude wrote:12 also! Anyone else confused by the orientation schedule? Do the bolded sections indicate things we have to go to?
I'm just overall stuck trying to figure out how to interpret this. Or maybe I'm missing some information...

Wow, so annoyed right now. Just found out about the tuition hike. I was looking at the ebill and saw that it was a bit higher than I had calculated it to be. Then I looked at the tuition: $45,750 for the 2011-12 year vs $43,999 for the 2010-11 year. In all the brochures they sent and everything it showed the 2010 tuition, with no notice that there would be a jump this year. Did they send out an email or something that I didn't get? Do they not understand that some people are trying to minimize the loans they have to take out and have already made tight budget plans? I'm lucky in that I'll comfortably get by right now with the $875 semester tuition hike, but that plus the fact that orientation has been completely useless so far is a pretty bad start to my time at GW.

Yeah, I was pissed when I found out by looking at the ebill and wondering why the tuition was higher than in the f'ing financial aid letter.TheFutureLawyer wrote:Wow, so annoyed right now. I've also had other problems dealing with the financial aid office, and I feel totally fine saying that it's their fault.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
