Deciding where to live is so stressful. Regents seems nice but I feel like they're screwing us over for being lazy.

I submitted my $50 deposit to reserve a spot there, but I'll keep looking elsewhere.

Oh thank you dluk. I can breathe again.

July hunting sounds good. That's when the MAC lady said there'd be more available and ready for viewing.

Thank you. If anybody has any information on the Class of 2010, preferably published by the school itself, it would be most helpful.

My opinion is yes, they are. And let me say that after spending half a year up here, I plan to stay in grad student housing till 2013. I think it is hands-down the best deal in terms of square footage, and there are tons of building options.

I did my "vacation" hunting for apartments last summer with a (not at all dorky) binder filled with maps, pamphlets, etc. It was stressful and confusing. And if you get to come up for a pre-school vacation, you should just spend your time getting to know and enjoy Hyde Park.

What grad housing options are there? All i've heard of was the new grad, which I was told is basically just dorm rooms (ie, without a kitchen)?

Oh, no. There are tons. Go here: http://rs.uchicago.edu/graduate_housing/locations.shtml

Each circle is a building that you can click on to get specific information. It's not too user-friendly, but the property comparisons list can help when used in conjunction with the map. The downside is that you have to apply and list your top three preferences, and you may not know where you get assigned until August or so. Also, you usually can't tour the apartments unless you know a student willing to let you in. That being said, I still think it's the best deal and I love my apartment. I have my own kitchen and utilities are included, which is great. You could always apply and then refuse to accept your assignment if you don't like it; at least it gives you an option to bank on.

Thanks! I wouldn't mind living in that cluster of housing options just to the west of the law school. Do you know anything about those/any you would recommend? Do any have dishwashers? Are they safe?
