It seems odd to me that they would absorb the costs of overages, though. I'm going to call tomorrow or Tuesday and ream them with questions. I will report back afterwards. :D

The cost is built into the rent. They aren't absorbing anything.

This is what I was talking about with splitting up the studio. Makes me reconsider a 1br being super necessary....

Yeah I think it looks pretty cool!

And yes, I always regretted making my account so long ago as a naive LSAT and using such an obvious name, but I only just now realized you can request a change  So I decided to go with the German spelling (complete with the extra e to replace the umlaut)!

Muenchen, Windermere has pretty spacious studios, too (if I recall correctly) and they have an extra dining area that you can make into a bedroom:

So yeah, I think studios are TCR. Cheaper than a 1BR and you might as well save money during 1L. I think I'll probably do a 2BR with roommate, but if not it'll definitely be a studio.

Yes, that's definitely a nice set up also. I shouldn't have graduated a semester early without a job that starts right away. I'm so bored I'm seriously considering taking some of these floorplans into a program and inserting my furniture pieces to play around with different set ups.... I wish my job would let me start earlier.. :(

Yeah I think so. I'd have to do a 2BR in Regents.

I don't know what "more affordable" means? Windermere has studios for $900-$1000?

--LinkRemoved--

I haven't looked that much.

Haha anything less than Regents is SOMEWHAT more affordable I guess. Although I don't think I'd mind paying that. I can't wait to get out of my piece of shit apartment! It reeks of gas and I can see my breath in the bathroom it's so cold. Awesome.

Flamingo says that they have studios starting at $671. The kind of cool thing about Flamingo is that they are technically studios, but they have a small connecting room which is where a bed can go that's different from the living room. When first looking at the floorplan I couldn't tell what it was for, but the virtual tour and photos show it well and it seems like a cool idea. --ImageRemoved--

This looks like a great setup and price. Still not sure what to do.

Anyone still considering the new grad? I haven't lived in a dorm for a long time -- but at this point, seeing as I won't get a chance to visit before school start, and wanting to live really close to campus (I spent my undergrad in the library), I'm considering it. Plus, tracking down and buying furniture would be a pain and additional cost of living in an apt.

I have generally not considered any university housing but I just realized they actually allow pets... I'll have to consider this!

Edit: Some buildings do, but not the new grad. So no :(

I'm looking at stuff on padmapper and there are some AWESOME 3BR townhouse-y type condos that are SO cheap. I dunno if I want to find 2 random roommates for 1L, but for 2L after I know people that sounds amazing.

Also, re: furniture - you can probably find a roommate that already has furniture? I bought new LR furniture this year and I am NOT giving it up. ha
